The Rail Coal Fire Bistro’s humble beginnings were founded on a passion for great food and an appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. Its fundamental belief in the importance of providing value to its customers through the use of fresh and imaginative ingredients quickly allowed the Rail to grow into an unmissable dining destination.
Friends and family alike continue to gather in what has become the South Shore’s most inviting dining room to discover the joys of reimagined casual dining. The Rail takes a fresh approach to breakfast, lunch, and dinner in its 130-guest dining room.
Across reviews, The Rail Coal Fire Bistro comes across as a warm, welcoming spot with a lively atmosphere and generous portions at good value, open late and suitable for breakfast, brunch, or casual dinners. Service is repeatedly praised for being attentive, friendly, and efficient across many staff, with guests feeling well cared for and checked on at the right times, though peak times can bring longer waits and occasional crowding. The menu earns accolades for variety and quality, with many dishes described as delicious and well prepared, including burgers, pizzas, seafood, and brunch staples, while a few items are noted as needing a bit more moisture or sauce or having presentation gaps. The ambience is described as relaxed and friendly, sometimes a touch noisy or bustling, yet still welcoming, and the casino setting adds a lively energy that guests appreciate. Prices are viewed as reasonable for the portion sizes and menu breadth, with several reviewers noting the absence of extra taxes on the bill as a plus.
JR was an amazing server with attention to detail. Sadly the weekly thursday special is very tough. I have eaten there forever & love every other menu items. The noise level is very loud but it is a casino restaurant
For those who don't know Le Rail, it's one of the best restaurants on the South Shore in my opinion! The prices are more than reasonable, the food is delicious, & you even have the legendary Playground in the same building. It's the perfect spot for groups, family outings, or even a nice moment with your life partner.

My husband John Chilcott & I comes here on a regular. The food service & atmosphere is beyond words. We celebrate our birthday & wedding anniversaries, eating here! The price is like no other. Our waitress tonight was amazing! She stayed back & take your order, not up in your faces, now that professional service at its best. We love everything about the rail. Keep the good work up guys.
