About us
In Old Montreal, just south of the Financial District, sits The Farsides. Brought to you by John Edward Gumbley (Bord’Elle) and the Jegantic team, the Farsides is an edgy new take on the restaurant and bar scene. Our blend of culinary styling sets the exotic far eastern flavours of Thailand’s shores crashing into the far Western Beaches of Hawaiian cuisine. The result of this fusion is something we like to call Thaiwaiian. A sumptuous combination of authentic Thai and Hawaiian delicacies, merging familiar flavours with elevated function.
Not only do we consider the Farsides to be a unique take on cuisine, we also aim to please with a brand new re-imagining of the Tiki bar concept. Our mixology program features no less than a dozen modern interpretations of classic cocktails you would normally only expect to find on the Islands.
Stepping into the Farsides will be like walking into our version of an alleyway in Brooklyn circa 1992. Complete with brick walls as high as the eye can see, fire escapes, graffiti laced facades and believe it or not our very own hand painted basketball court. Add a touch of the exotic with jungle like overgrowth set to the beat of 80’s & 90’s hip pop and nostalgic memorabilia from the golden age of rap and what you’ll find is The Farsides. Montreal you might not know us but we know you very well.

We had the pleasure of receiving excellent service, from Justine, & delicious food. I was skeptical about the loaded fries, thinking that the avocado & fries mix would be a bad attempt to mimic nachos, but that combination worked surprisingly well. The drinks did have quite a bit of ice in them, but were good nonetheless.View more

My experience here tonight was less than stellar. Coming in with the expectation of trying something new & fun, we only wanted appetizers & drinks. I was excited to try something new, & I love Thai food!!!! Our server was overly bubbly, but her tone & demeanor changed as soon as she realized we were not there for the full menu & paying over 100+. The food was good, but small portions. However, the drink was pathetic. Mostly ice with little alcohol ( the picture below shows how much ice was in the cup). Not what we were expecting at all! The place has fun vibes, but you're paying for it. The waitress shouldn't have treated us the way she did, with an attitude about us coming in for an experience, I hope she regretted it once she realized we were place hopping & visiting from out of Province. I was also disappointed that their menu had changed from what I could see online & that our waitress didn't even know her menu well. Went in to try the duck tacos & not available. Asked about a dish, & she had no answers for us. Will not be back & not recommending.View more

Vibes were great, the decorations are on point & the music was bomb. All the 90s babies would love it. Service was amazing our waitress was great. Food was delicious. Personally I feel like the drinks weren't strong enough as if they were mostly juice rather than alcohol. For the price I expected more booze.View more

I would have given the food more stars if it weren't for the starters & desserts, which were not really impressive. However, the main dishes deserve a perfect 10 out of 10. The DJ & music were great additions to the atmosphere. The staff was friendly, & the service was excellent. The quality of the drinks varied, with the Bloody Caesar being disappointing, but the staff proactively offered to replace it without me even needing to ask. However, there's a significant need to improve the waiting time for the restroom, which was quite frustrating. Despite this, the overall experience was positive, thanks to the fantastic main courses & the attentive service.View more
