Review Summary

The Coldroom is widely celebrated as an authentic speakeasy in Old Montreal, hidden behind an unmarked, mysterious door that rewards visitors with a unique and memorable experience. Guests consistently praise the impressive craftsmanship of the creative cocktail menu, noting that the bartenders are exceptionally knowledgeable, professional, and often willing to craft bespoke drinks based on personal preferences. While the entrance can be challenging to locate and wait times can increase during busy weekend evenings, the atmospheric, dim, and cozy cellar setting provides a perfect backdrop for a night out. Although the food menu is limited, the high quality of the beverages and the warm, welcoming service from the dedicated staff make this a must-visit destination for those looking for a sophisticated and intimate bar experience.

We visited Cold Room Speakeasy on Friday after having an amazing experience with Sarah at el Pequeno. We came to Cold Room just to be served by her again, even tho she was a hostess she did not disappoint. Despite the long line & impatient guests, Sarah was warm, welcoming, & made sure we were well taken care of.
The drinks were fantastic expertly crafted & definitely worth the visit.
The only downside was our server, Lilie, who came off as rude & arrogant, which was a bit of a letdown.
Cold Room is definitely worth checking out, especially for the drinks & Sarah's hospitality!

Highly recommended. If you go Mon-Thu, it will be less busy. Drinks from menu are great! The bar tenders are highly attentive to detail & service. The only reason for they are not getting 5 starts from me (someone extremely picky when it comes to the hospitality industry), I ordered a gin & tonic after ordering some of their amazing drinks from the menu, & the g&t wasn't what I had hopped for.

FYI, best g&t I have ever had are served in the Basque Country.

My first speakeasy! Absolutely loved this place - the cocktails are fantastic & the staff super friendly. The atmosphere is cosy & loud.

Typical speakeasy with the hidden entrance next to El Pequeno. Creative cocktails were complex & unique.

I wrote 3 for food because they don't sell more than 5 small snacks like olives , nuts etc

Really cool speakeasy craft cocktail bar with very skilled bartenders. It can be a little hard to find, but all you do is ring a doorbell & wait for staff to come & add you to a waitlist. In the meantime there is a pre-bar to the main bar next to the entrance.

I got the Smoking Gun, Joe Peachi, & then an Espresso Martini. & my sister & I both got their long sleeve T-shirts. They're all balanced & decorated well. The menu also has descriptions for each drink. & they have some non-alcoholic mocktails too!

It's got a very cozy vibe despite the juxtaposition of a boiler room/cellar aesthetic, & the bathrooms are pretty cool!

Also, I pulled Narita Brian in Uma Musume during her banner event with one roll, so you know this is a lucky spot! Definitely coming back next time I'm in Montreal & gets a big recommendation for all my Mixology friends.

Beautiful little hidden gem, with old beautiful details. It's one of a kind cocktails experience, a must have. They ask you questions about our tastes, then they crate a mix for you. We loved every drink. I highly recommend
