Review Summary

The Coldroom is described as a hidden speakeasy in Old Montreal with an unmarked door and a discreet buzzer that opens to a cellar like space with brick and wood tones, creating an intimate and atmospheric vibe. The drinks program is creative and often exceptional, with a balance focused approach and some playful touches from a menu featuring creative concepts, while the service is generally friendly and attentive though crowds can cause longer waits on busy nights and occasional inconsistencies. Food is limited to light snacks, and prices are considered average to high for the area, but many feel the cocktails are worth it. The overall impression is a distinctive, romantic and immersive experience that appeals to couples, groups and cocktail lovers who seek a memorable Montreal night out, and the entrance ritual plus the craft during the night make it a standout spot to visit.

Really cool place to have a drink. A proper speakeasy style of bar with the door just being an emergency exit with no signage. Great signature cocktails & a huge range of Whisky's available.

I've visited this place twice already. The first time was with my boyfriend-we sat at the bar & had an amazing time. The second time, I went with my family, & they loved the cocktails. The service wasn't as good during our second visit, as I had to get up & ask for water for the table, but I understand-it was very busy.
This is truly a speakeasy. The entrance looks like a regular exit door: no name, just a ring, which I found fun, since the whole point of a speakeasy is that it's hard to find. Once they open the door, you go down the stairs & enter the bar through another door that almost looks like a cold-room door.
The place is simple, with brick walls, but they serve some of the most amazing cocktails I've tried in Montreal. The menu is adorable, with duck illustrations & well-detailed descriptions. My favorite drinks were Death Mark, Rice to Meet You, Internal Affairs, & Joe Peachi.
I'll definitely come back on my next trip to Montreal.

Speakeasy dans le Vieux Montréal. Ambiance très cozy... génial pour une date mais aussi très agréable avec des amis. Belle variété de cocktails originaux. Trouver cet endroit vaux le détour...

This was amazing. A true speakeasy experience. Going from the hustle & bustle of the overhead street to a chill cocktail lounge was so refreshing! The cocktails were creative recipes, names, & themes. The server was awesome in helping us choose what we wanted. I'm not in Mo freak often, but when I am, you can find me here!

The entrance was admittedly a little hard to find as it was an inconspicuous black door tucked away in the corner that required guests to be buzzed in. That aside, The Coldroom was an excellent speakeasy with cozy atmosphere topped up with great drinks that all add up to shape the perfect night.

Such good vibe with cute drinks at a speakeasy. The coasters are lovely ducklings :)

We visited Cold Room Speakeasy on Friday after having an amazing experience with Sarah at el Pequeno. We came to Cold Room just to be served by her again, even tho she was a hostess she did not disappoint. Despite the long line & impatient guests, Sarah was warm, welcoming, & made sure we were well taken care of.
The drinks were fantastic expertly crafted & definitely worth the visit.
The only downside was our server, Lilie, who came off as rude & arrogant, which was a bit of a letdown.
Cold Room is definitely worth checking out, especially for the drinks & Sarah's hospitality!

Typical speakeasy with the hidden entrance next to El Pequeno. Creative cocktails were complex & unique.

Did Canada have prohibition? Cool speakeasy even if not entirely historically accurate!!

Really cool speakeasy craft cocktail bar with very skilled bartenders. It can be a little hard to find, but all you do is ring a doorbell & wait for staff to come & add you to a waitlist. In the meantime there is a pre-bar to the main bar next to the entrance.

I got the Smoking Gun, Joe Peachi, & then an Espresso Martini. & my sister & I both got their long sleeve T-shirts. They're all balanced & decorated well. The menu also has descriptions for each drink. & they have some non-alcoholic mocktails too!

It's got a very cozy vibe despite the juxtaposition of a boiler room/cellar aesthetic, & the bathrooms are pretty cool!

Also, I pulled Narita Brian in Uma Musume during her banner event with one roll, so you know this is a lucky spot! Definitely coming back next time I'm in Montreal & gets a big recommendation for all my Mixology friends.

Fun speakeasy because you get to press a button to get in. The music was a lot of fun. Crowded & boozy drinks. Took a while for us to order & get our drinks. Interesting crowd.

Press the doorbell & wait for someone to open! A hidden gem with a stylish, laid-back vibe, this speakeasy delivers a solid cocktail menu & an even better atmosphere. Drinks are good-well-balanced & creative without trying too hard. Great spot for a chill, low-key night out.
