Tejano Cantina definitely exceeded my expectations! I tried the Tex-Mex bowl with chicken & the chicken burrito, & both were incredibly satisfying. Every bite was fresh, generously portioned, & packed with vibrant ingredients that came together beautifully. You can really tell that care goes into the food. If you're craving a hearty, well-made Tex-Mex meal, this place is absolutely worth a visit!
I don't usually write reviews, but this meal definitely deserved one.
I ordered the Junior Pulled Pork Quesadilla & the Pulled Pork Southwest Bowl, & they made two generous meals. The pulled pork was incredibly flavorful & tender, & the sides were just as delicious.
I cook a lot at home, so I'm often disappointed with takeout or find it just okay. It's rare for me to leave a review, but this was genuinely excellent.
My only tiny suggestion is that the aji sauce with the quesadilla was a bit too salty for my taste. Otherwise, everything was fantastic.
This restaurant is officially bookmarked, & I can't wait to order again!
Tejano Cantina delivers the bold flavors of the American Southwest with a delicious Texas-Mexican inspired or Tex-Mex twist.
The burritos are fresh, generously filled, & packed with smoky flavor. The Beef Birria & Chicken Tinga are absolute standouts, & the Shiitake Adobo is one of the best vegetarian options I've had. Don't skip the burrito bowls or the chips with salsa-they're just as impressive.
Great food, friendly service, & the perfect spot when you're craving authentic Southwestern-inspired comfort food.
I can see how hard the cooks work in the kitchen just for them to put that same effort into service. Thank you amazing burrito bowl & thank you for the Avocado with lime & salt
I ordered the tinga bowl through Uber eats & it was so good. I was very surprised by the taste of the tinga chicken. I just wish the toppings were a bit more generous: more corn, more lettuce, etc.
I am writing this so that hopefully it can be taken as advice. Tonight I ordered a classic burrito & a burrito bowl, & both of the items had many mistakes, & this is the first time happening in years I've been ordering from here, which is why it was surprising. My burrito had sweet potatoes which I did not order & they put rice instead of full lettuce in the burrito bowl. I was a waitress myself & I know that on Saturday's there can be some mistakes due to high demand, but hopefully this can be learned as a lesson for the kitchen, since some other customers would not be as understanding.
Unfortunately, I am forced to give this restaurant a lower rating due to some negative experiences that I had on January 3 & January 4. This relates to some problems that I had with the food that I had ordered on UBER. I should note that this is not the first time that I had ordered from this restaurant in the past. I have been a fairly regular customer but now I am fairly concerned about continuing to order from this restaurant. I had placed two (2) separate orders on two (2) separate nights & the ordered items did not change whatsoever. I made ZERO changes to the content of the items that I ordered on the menu. In both cases, the orders came with major mistakes, which caused me to feel physically unwell, & I now believe I need to report this publicly because it was such a bad experience. I filed a food safety report with UBER about my situation; originally I had trouble with their system because they do not consider all complaints to be valid. This is a completely different issue from the restaurant itself.
I did speak directly with the restaurant staff on two (2) occasions now about both orders & they were admittedly shocked & surprised that I had this type of experience, let alone that this occurred on two (2) consecutive nights.
I am very sensitive to spice as well as acid, & I am very careful with the food that I consume due to this underlying health condition. I am susceptible to stomach ulcers & to extreme pain if I consume more than the appropriate amount of spice & acid in my food. This is the reason that I always specify that the burrito or burrito bowl should be done with MILD salsa & that there should be ZERO spicy ingredients included in the burrito or burrito bowl.
In this case, I had ordered a regular burrito on both occasions & I asked for MILD salsa, as per usual. On both occasions, the burrito was highly spicy & overbearingly hot. I was not able to eat very much of it because of the level of spice & heat. Whatever I did consume definitely irritated my stomach, & I am now in need of a doctor's appointment. I need to have my health problem reevaluated because clearly it was made worse by what I was eating, & I did not eat very much of the food that was delivered.
After the first incident on January 3, the restaurant offered for me to be compensated with a free meal, but this no longer seems to be all that helpful when the same thing occurred for a second time the following day on January 4. I went & spoke with them today on Monday, January 5 about what happened on the last two (2) days & I was not offered any other form of compensation. They were simply just'shocked' that these incidents happened & said that they would need to look into it. They also did not understand why random ingredients were included in the burrito that I had not requested, including'pickled onions' which I cannot digest. I NEVER include these in the list of ingredients whenever I place an order with this place.
Something has obviously gone majorly wrong with this restaurant, & I am not overly comfortable ordering food from there again if this is going to be the type of experience I end up having repeatedly. I had requested ingredients like'cheese' &'crema' to be included in the burrito & there was very little of this on both nights. Otherwise there was just a lot of spice & a lot of heat, & this was not well compensated or balanced out by any non-spicy ingredients.
The main issue was that I NEVER requested any spicy salsa in the first place & that is exactly what caused me to feel unwell from the food. Although I appreciate the fact that the restaurant did attempt to compensate me for the first experience, they certainly did not offer anything for the second experience, & I thought that they would be a tad bit more concerned after telling them that I had two (2) horrible nights of this with no explanation as to why this happened.
So the burrito chicken bowl was small but remember the'where's the beef' expression so'where's the chicken'. Great taste but expensive for beans rice & a barely there chicken quantity.
