Absolutely stellar, a solid 10/10! If I had to sum up my time here in a single word, it would be "balance". The culinary creations are not just inventive, they're impeccably balanced. The service is simply outstanding. Corinne & Tom behind the bar were a treat to watch. It almost felt like they were siblings, they were so in sync & they never left anyone waiting. It's clear that every member of the team is not only knowledgeable but operates in perfect harmony. As for the ambiance, it's a perfect blend of funky, upscale, & casually chic. You could step in wearing your finest attire or rock a t-shirt & jeans & totally feel right at home. I was first welcomed by Barb, one of the owners, who was welcoming, personable & had her finger on the pulse of everything! I love seeing an owner lead by example on the floor. & I was incredibly fortunate that my dining journey was personally curated by none other than the executive chef part owner, Josh Crowe. Having recently returned from a culinary adventure in Italy, I couldn't help but feel transported back to the streets of Rome & Florence with each bite at Monkland Tavern. Yet it still felt uniquely Canadian as Josh is proud to source a large amount of the ingredients locally. This experience undoubtedly ranks among the finest I've ever had. I'm already eagerly anticipating my return. Monkland Tavern comes with my highest recommendation to all. A heartfelt thank you to the remarkable staff for making this experience truly exceptional. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Les pâtes sont fantastique! Aucun restaurant du Monkland, même officiellement très italien, n'offre d'options aussi délicieuses. Le service est très attentif, sans être intrusif. Bravo!

The chef knows what he's doing. Excellent ingredients, simple but creative & well-executed dishes (the fish!) of Italian inspiration. Regards to the staff who are attentive but not fussy. I would have taken off half a star for the choice of wines by the glass, they were a little disappointing.
Food was good but very overpriced for what you're getting. I'm sorry I'm writing this but the truth. Used to be better food but it looked kind of measly
Des propriétaires & toute une équipe qui ont le souci de faire passer un bon moment à leurs clients. C'est toujours savoureux. On est toujours bien servis. Ils méritent toutes les étoiles 🌟 qu'on peut donner. On a beaucoup de chance de les avoir!
Of course there's no such thing as a 5 star...but. This restaurant was one of our regular go toos since it opened. About three years ago we struck it off our list. Not that it was terrible, it had simply lost its value & spirit, in our opinion. Value is hard to determine as we are still talking personal taste in the case of food. I must however say that last night we decided to reserve a table & check it out. Wow! Service couldn't have been better. Food, every morsel mmmmwwwwaaaa! Delish! Still a bit pricey but that's just seems to be the new normal. From Barbara's warm & welcoming attention to the attentiveness of the busboy, in the words of Arnold... we'll be back!

Not my preferred tavern location based on the atmosphere mostly. My friend & I were sat right in the middle of the restaurant, & the waiters kept on accidentally bumping into me, while carrying out food/drinks. The music they were playing was definitely a choice: rap music (with cursing & the n word), which seemed odd given the general crowd.
Delicious on a whole new level!! 😍 Appetizer: stripped bass crudo & bread (focaccia with wild stripped bass on a bed of kohlrabi crostone). As a foodie, the crudo was unreal (similar to ceviche). For main, I had the pork chops, quite filling, quite fatty I'm taste & generous proportions. The St Rita drink was perfect cocktail for a sweet ending. Thank you Xavier for excellent service.

Had to wait about 30 min for a table to be available. Service is ok but not outstanding. Food was excellent. I strongly recommend the salmon. Chose to sit at the terrace if the weather is good.
