We were first time visitors to Montreal & we enjoyed a delicious dinner at Gaspar. Service was very attentive by Hugo. Mussels & frites were delicious. Also wine recommendation was great. Very nice atmosphere.
Dining at Gaspar was easily one of the highlights of our visit to Montreal. The food was phenomenal from start to finish, with the mussels being truly beyond compare - flavorful, perfectly prepared, & unforgettable. The atmosphere was warm & inviting, making it easy to relax & enjoy great conversation throughout the meal. The service was equally outstanding thanks to Hugo, who made the entire experience feel welcoming & seamless. This is absolutely a restaurant we will return to on our next trip to Montreal.
We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Gaspar. The service from Hugo was outstanding & the food was out of this world. We had the salmon that was perfect & the muscles & fries which were exceptional. We couldn't believe how many you get with order! Definitely recommend.
I went there with two friends
The service was good at the beginning then it was slowly fading, by the end we didn't have a waiter for 20-30 minutes to order our dessert so we didn't.
The food is good but nothing amazing. If you order the beef with fries it will have ZERO presentation, meat was overcooked & the fries were average. I ordered the vegan option & it was good but the octopus entry was partially burned.
The place is beautiful & it has a quiet atmosphere, of course it might depend on the day.
Prices are correct.
Service & atmosphere were awesome, even if it was oddly difficult to find the doorway in from the split staircase entrance (easier to find from the side facing the port).
Had a pre-planned menu for business, & weirdly ended up with the wrong dessert & an undercooked steak. Overall the food was good.
Au delà de la nourriture qui était excellente (en particulier la bavette), la qualité du service de l'ensemble des serveurs était à souligner lors de ma visite. Merci pour cette belle soirée !
The ambience & service was great, I can overlook the lack of workers & having to train new hires but the food was disappointing. My plate looked like it should cost $11 but unfortunately it was $41. The asparagus looked like they died many times over. The fries were dry. The steak was ok but the sauce was salty beyond comprehension (My friend's risotto was also extremely salty that she had to return it. They brought her another - obviously from the same batch & because it was a birthday, no one felt like'ruining' the mood, she just ate the meat on top & left everything else)
Were they playing catch with the food in the kitchen? The presentation was oddly sloppy. Everything was plopped on the plate like in a school cafeteria. It felt disrespectful.
I'm hoping it's a one-off because this was subpar. This should be a 2-star review to be honest but the staff was working hard, they saved it.
The place is very beautiful, but the food wasn't amazing. Although the meat was very tender, all of our meals lacked flavour, the lamb, mussels, fish, except the pesto pasta. Very expensive for mediocre meals. Service was good.
The food was very overpriced & bland, portions too small for a main dish. My friend's food was oversalted, it was returned to the kitchen & they brought a new plate but it was still very salty.
The ambiance was really nice but it's not worth going back.
The service overall was ok, our waitress was overwhelmed, it was a busy evening.
