Ma femme & moi avons mangé un délicieux repas un soir frais d'automne. Cuisson de bavette parfaite, fish & chips super tendre, bouillon de soupe à l'oignon goûteux & que dire de Stéphane qui nous a accueilli comme chez lui. Vraiment, un resto à découvrir! Nous y retournerons c'est certain.

We visited Taverne 1855 on our first night in Magog & were seated on the back terrasse. The atmosphere was lovely, & the staff, particularly a gentleman who appeared to be the owner or manager, was warm & welcoming. He made an effort to engage with customers.

Unfortunately, the service from our assigned waitress was disappointing. We waited over 20 minutes before she acknowledged us, & during that time we were not offered water, menus, or utensils. She seemed overwhelmed, though the restaurant wasn't particularly busy & she only had a few tables to manage.

We started with the fried calamari, which was brought by another staff member who noticed we still had no utensils or napkins. We also had to remind our waitress about our drinks, to which she replied,'Oh, I thought I brought them.'

When the main dishes arrived, we were pleased with the food. My husband enjoyed his burger, & my daughter & I really liked the bavette. However, there was a mix-up with my son's order. Instead of the regular poutine from the kids' menu, the chef mistakenly prepared the duck poutine. My son is five, so understandably he wouldn't eat it. We asked for the correct dish, & thankfully it was fixed a few minutes later.

All in all, the food was very good, but the service from our waitress ...... seemed like a lack of experience more than anything. Oh, & we never did get that water.

Bavette excellente mes 8 a 10 frites dans le panier.la spécialiste pouding au chômeur ont a faire rire de nous avec une mini portion alors que tout le monde avait le double dans notre environnement & que la serveuse nous disait que nous avions la bonne portion j'ai trouvé ça irrespectueux

At dinner last Friday I ordered the fish (cod) & chips as my main course. The fish was underdone - to the point where the flesh was actually cold. The server took it back & brought a second plate. The fish was still underdone in the middle. The server was very apologetic, but at this point I gave up & nibbled on my fries. My friend's main (bavette) was fine, but this was a disappointing experience. Would not return.

Curieusement, par une belle soirée d'été le restaurant est pratiquement vide alors que partout ailleurs c'est plein à craquer. Ça augure mal.
& comme de fait, les plats qui nous ont été servi etaient de qualité très moyenne. Une bavette à 40$ cuite bord en bord accompagnée d'une sauce brune insipide. Enfin, le vin au verre chichement rempli.
Endroit à éviter.

Stéphane was a great host. The food met all expectations. My date & I shared a beet salad with warm goat cheese. The bavette was tender, cooked to perfection, with fries you can only find in Québec. I had the shank of lamb with the meat that fell off the bone & grilled vegetables which

Ceci n'est que mon opinion pour ce quelle vaut. Grosse déception malgré le "rating" vu sur le net. Nous avons pris une chance. Une première & la dernière pour nous. 140$ pour du gros "moyen". Pas mauvais, juste ordinaire. Mes critiques: sangria mal balancée, amaretto sour bcp trop sucré. L'entrée de crevette bang bang a été ce qui a été de meilleur pour nous. Le fish & chip & la bavette nous a laissé déçu. Je suis désolé je n'ai pas de meilleur mot. Point le plus positif fut L'amabilité du personnel qui se doit d'être souligné. (Retours à la réponse: je ne vous ai pas traité de menteur pour les prix, je pense qu'ils ne sont pas représentatifs tout simplement. Ceci étant dit peu être que d'autres sauront apprécier plus que nous.)

We drove into Magog for the day from Montreal & we decided to give this place a try. Great service from the start. Warm & welcoming. We had the salmon & bavette. The food was anwesome & the restaurant itself was really cozy. Prices were a bit steep but I totally get it as I am a General Manager/Head bartender at a Pub in Montreal & our overhead has gone up exponentially. Overall a great experience & we will definitely come back. Very happy we stopped in. 🤘
