They happened to have a girls night special on which my wife opted for. I also ordered the fried calamari & the baked fish of the day. The special should be advertised more as a starter or appetizer because it was simply some round melba toast type crackers with a sashimi type pate & although not clear on the menu, came with fries. It was very average & the fries, i'm sure are Costco frozen crispy fries (we did not eat them). The Calamari was not edible unless you truly wanted to choke. I may as well have been chewing on an elastic band. Now for the fish (the Branzino).. That definitely saved the meal & experience because it was baked very nicely & was flavorful. The chef was friendly & nice to talk to however l, our waitress definitely could use a refresher course. To sum it up, (IF) we were to potentially go back, it would be for the fish.
Peter & Haley were excellent hosts, & the food was out of this world. Fresh & delicious, highly recommended!
Came here as a group of 4 on a Thursday. Was not busy so our service was phenomenal. I cannot remember our waitress' name but she was excellent with great recommendations.
We did a giant plancha with a mix of meat & seafood. I would say it is HEAVILY salted, but I loved it all & thought it was delicious! We also added some cooked oysters in the shell which were incredible.
This is a hidden gem in Hudson that should be shouted out to the world! What a great addition to the restaurant scene in the area (even though it's not really that new!).
Will be back - thank you!
We decided to try Taverna Raw Bar & Plancha because we saw the seafood tower advertised online, but when we arrived we were told it was from an old menu & is no longer offered. That was disappointing, & unfortunately it wasn't the only item they were out of.
We ordered a Prosecco, but they had run out. To their credit, they upgraded us to a nicer bottle of rosé bubbly for the same price, which we appreciated. We also ordered a dozen oysters but they only had six left.
The food was a mixed bag. The tuna tartare was fresh but needed more seasoning. The clam chowder was just okay. We expected the charred cauliflower to be a warm side dish, but it was actually served as a cold salad. The grilled octopus was underwhelming-just one tentacle-& although we ordered fries with it, we were served a few wilted vegetables instead.
Service was slow even though the restaurant was nearly empty. The servers were friendly & polite, so no complaints there.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience. Between the outdated online menu, several unavailable items, inconsistent food, & slow service, it's not a restaurant we would return to.
Une petite perle en plein coeur d'Hudson. J y retournerai très rapidement. Je recommande +++
Everything from start to finish was delicious!! Our waitress Haley did a great job at making sure we were well taken care of & happy. Not my first time at Taverna & definitely won't be my last!
