⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I had an amazing experience at Sour bites laval on Saint-Elzéar in Laval! The candy selection is incredible, with so many unique & delicious treats to choose from. Everything looked fresh, colorful, & beautifully presented. The staff were friendly & welcoming, & the atmosphere was fun & inviting. Whether you're craving sour candy, chocolate-covered fruits, or trendy desserts, this is definitely the place to go. I highly recommend it to anyone with a sweet tooth
The dot cake did not taste good. We only had half of it (I shared it with my husband). It really isn't worth it. It is full of cream (not the good kind… this feels really greasy & leaves an aftertaste in the mouth). The cake texture was ok but nothing to rave about. The dot candy tastes like dot candy. I'm throwing away the rest of it.
The place was fun & chilling, we took the candy graps & a cup of strawberry pistachio, was so good as well as the stuff there
🍬 What is Sour Bites
Sour Bites is a Québec dessert/candy brand that's gone viral on TikTok. They started mostly via online / Laval, but now have a location on 2185 Rue Crescent, Montréal. ?
They specialize in:
• fruits enrobés de bonbon (candied fruits) ?
• Tanghulus (fruit skewers with sugar crunch) ?
• Chocolat Dubaï (a chocolate bar with pistachio & kunafeh) ?
• Verrines, cheesecakes, tasses (dessert cups), etc. Lots of variety. ?
?
👍 What's Good
• Visually impressive / Instagram-worthy. The presentation is colourful, the sweets look beautiful. Great for that'wow' factor. ?
• Variety. If you like sweets, candy, fruit combos, there are many options: fruit + candy, verrines, chocolate bars, etc. You can pick what level of sweetness / fancy you want. ?
• Locations & hours. They're open late (especially on weekends), which is a plus if you want dessert after dinner or late nights out. ?
• The novelty / local trend. There's something fun about trying a dessert place that's trending online, with flavours & concepts people are buzzing about. Sour Bites has tapped that well. ?
?
👎 What Could Be Better / What to Be Aware Of
• Pricing is steep. These are treats, not cheap snacks. Some items like chocolate bars or boxed sweets go for $12.99 to $27.99 CAD. ?
• Overhype vs reality. Some customers might feel that the'social media glow' oversells a bit: while delicious, not every item is mind-blowing. If your expectations are sky high (because of TikTok), you might find some items more novelty than'best dessert ever.'
• Salmonella/recall concern. There is a recall posted by MAPAQ:'Chocolat Dubaï from Sour Bites in Montréal' was linked to a salmonella outbreak. If you have bought that product (between specific dates: April-7 to Sept-5, 2025) you are advised to discard it. ?
• Lines / availability. Because of its popularity, some flavours or products might sell out. Might need patience or to come earlier. ?

⭐ Overall Rating & Verdict
I'd give Sour Bites approx 4.0-4.5 / 5. It's fun, indulgent & a treat place done well, especially if you love sweet / candy-fruit combos. But it's not without its drawbacks: cost, occasional overpromise, & the recall is something serious to watch.
If you're in Montréal & crave something sweet, novel, & shareable (Instagram + taste), Sour Bites is absolutely worth trying once. Just go in knowing it's more dessert entertainment than everyday snack.
