After hearing so much hype, but honestly it felt overrated. Presentation looked nice, but they absolutely overkilled the sushi with sauces to the point where you could barely taste the fish anymore. At some point, it doesn't even feel like sushi anymore - more like an appetizer covered in toppings & sauce. Portions were good for the price, & while the service was okay, nothing really stood out. What really killed the experience was the seating & tables - felt more like an old cafeteria setup with sticky surfaces & worn-out tables that didn't look very clean. For the prices they charge & the hype around the place, the overall experience was disappointing.
We've been clients to Sogen for the past 4 years. 2 weeks ago we went the food was not good & the waiter had an attitude. We thought it was not our lucky day but yesterday it was a next level.
1. The miso soup was cold - we asked for hot one but it came back cold (in less than a minute).
2. The sogen chicken (sweet & spicy), the sauce was cold that the meat was like a jelly.
3. We asked for 2 edmamae but served one only (we were charged for 1 only)
4. The tzatziki dish was super dirty, the waiter has to wipe the bottom of the plate 3 times.
5. The service was very slow, we wanted to order dessert but the waiter was busy & other 3 waiters kept getting in & out looking at the tables & didn't bother to check in.

Je voyage beaucoup & j'ai la chance de goûter à une grande variété de cuisines. Je suis une grande amatrice de sushi, & je dois dire - après en avoir essayé dans de nombreux endroits, SOGEN est tout simplement le meilleur !
Si vous y allez, commandez les spécialités ! Elles sont non seulement présentées de façon spectaculaire avec des fleurs fraîches, mais chacune est accompagnée de sa propre sauce unique, comme un bon vin qui accompagne parfaitement un plat raffiné.
Je recommande vivement ! C'est toujours un plaisir de manger sur place ou de commander à emporter chez SOGEN.
Au passage, n'hésitez pas à demander les pièces de dégustation'hors menu' - elles sont absolument délicieuses ! C'est peut-être un peu cher, mais chaque bouchée vaut largement son prix.

I travel a lot & have the chance to try a wide variety of foods. I'm a big fan of sushi, & I have to say-after trying it in many different places, SOGEN is simply the best!
If you go there, order the specialties! Not only are they spectacularly presented with fresh flowers, but each one comes with its own distinct sauce, like pairing a fine wine with a great meal.
Highly recommended! It's always a pleasure to dine in or order takeout from SOGEN.
By the way, don't hesitate to ask for the'off-menu' tasting pieces-they're absolutely delicious! It might be a bit pricey, but every single bite is well worth your money.
Après 20 ans de loyaux services d'un autre resto sushis, on décide d'essayer Sogen pour mon anniversaire hier en pick up. À l'arrivée de mon conjoint, le gérant ou proprio "varge" dans la porte pour que l'employée vienne lui répondre. La commande est sur le comptoir devant lui. Les sushis sont mal roulés & le riz est sec. Dragon eye médiocres & la sauce aussi. J'ai l'impression qu'on me fabrique un plateau avec des restes de la veille & le dragon eye avec un vieux poisson qui sentait & pas frais. Jamais plus. Bon anniversaire 😉
pour souper samedi, service excellent, plat tre colore meme un peu trop, 2 bemol pourquoi noye sushi de sauce, ne pourrait on pas mettre a cote & table bistro collante? serveir nous dit que cest un probleme de vernis mais ca reste bizarre de vour nos assiettes qui reste collees ! tres belles experience.
L'ambiance & le service sont super! C'est festif mais pas trop bruyant non plus. Nous étions au bar cette fois-ci (à notre demande). Le seul point négatif de notre soirée c'est qu'il manque d'espace pour les genoux/jambes au bar, du moins pour les grandes personnes 😅 Les drinks sont bons! Les sushis sont incroyables, frais & savoureux & belle présentation. Les sauces des sushis spécialité sont délicieuses & nos préférés sont : les Rainbow, Soleil rouge (chair de homard) & Samurai (pétoncle). On y retournera encore plusieurs fois 🤩 Bravo! Pour info: Bouteille de vin blanc Banfi Fumaio Toscane super rapport qualité/prix à 37$, avec nos 2 drinks en début de soirée & 4 plats de sushis spécialité à partager (on a eu de la misère à les finir à 2 personnes affamées)... total 177$ avant tip.
Très déçu par notre dernière commande à emporter. Les maki étaient coupés de façon irrégulières (très fins ou trop larges). Les portions de sauce ont fortement diminué & plus généralement, l’effet WoW a disparu. C’est dommage car c’est un restaurant que nous apprécions. Note positive, la commande était prête d’avance pour une fois..
