Reviewers describe Soba & Sushi Bar as a cozy, compact spot with a wide sushi selection and a broad menu that also features Chinese dishes and bowls, all prepared with fresh ingredients and generous portions. The place is appreciated for fast, friendly service and a pleasant dining atmosphere that has benefited from a recent renovation, with clean lines and tasteful seating that makes small groups comfortable. Sushi is frequently praised for freshness and quality, and many orders are highlighted for reliable consistency whether dining in or taking out, with standout dishes like chirashi bowls, poke bowls, and well balanced sauces. Some call it the best sushi in Montreal. The restaurant is seen as a solid value with reasonable prices, dependable delivery, and convenient options for takeout, making it a go-to choice for many regulars. Overall, Soba & Sushi Bar comes across as a versatile Asian fusion spot that consistently delivers flavorful food, thoughtful preparation, and a positive, welcoming experience for diners in the area.
This was my favourite sushi take out spot. First the portions for some sushi got smaller & now prices have become ridiculous. They will say no the portion are the same but those of us who have eaten soba pre pandemic know otherwise. I wish you would figure out that if you kept prices reasonable people who buy more. Doesn't make sense to me.
Small restaurant, very large selection of sushi with many other options on the menu. Service is fast & staff is friendly. The really low volume lo-fi music is good & doesn't prevent you to have a discussion. Their poke bowls are amazing!

Pineapple ginger beef was delish. Sushi maki dish was fresh. Though the spicy salmon roll was not spicy at all. The wasabi helped bring the heat I was craving. Hot & sour soup was really good however the Miso soup was watered down 2*. Liked utemsil caddy on the table.
I have been using Soba for years as my convenient go to Chinese restaurant. Food is generally good, consistent & timely. it's largely a take out restaurant as inside dining is minimally appointed & quaint in its simplicity
.
I have recently switched from General Tao Chicken to newish Korean style chicken General Tao. Though fried ,the latter results in a chicken that is much more moist & tastier. Either general Tao or sweet & sour sauce comes with the order.
As well I added shrimp instead of the usual chicken to a mixed vegetable dish. The shrimp were cooked to perfection.
My presence on Mother's Day was also a revelation. The sushi platters were leaving the restaurant like packages at an Amazon distribution center.I have never been overwhelmed by their sushi but I am tempted to fall to peer pressure & give it a try with a spicy fresh sushi beyond the mayo my ultimate goal
Add: About to go on vacation with frig empty & after a morning of extensive physical activity,my hunger brought me to Soba, Korean Chicken & first eat in rather than take out experience. While Chinese food is always better when eaten immediately & this was invariably the case, the real find was that the smallish dining area has been completely furnished to include fake marble tops & handsome wood chairs in addition to mood music. The days of a seedy dining area are gone. Andrew & Jacky have done an excellent job whereby small parties can dine in close but comfortable surroundings
J'aime bien ce restaurant surtout pour les assiettes de sushis à emporter. J'y suis aussi allé le midi quelques fois. La cuisine est bonne mais la salle à manger est sombre & aurait besoin d'un peu d'amélioration pour être agréable.

Their food is always A1 quality & great attention to detail. Always fresh & clean Ingredients. Their sushi is always the best. Only place I'll come in the city for it. Never a fishy taste!
I had a pleasant lunch today. The restaurant wasn't super busy, & the waiter was super nice. The restaurant was super clean inside. They have a great selection of anything you'd expect from an Asian fusion/sushi restaurant. Both styles are done correctly. The General Tso was pretty good. The fried rice was ever so slightly dry. Nothing a little soy wouldn't help. I'd like to order for takeaway next time & get a fat sushi platter.

Update 5 years later: We kept ordering sporadically from Soba, but unfortunately the quality has gone down over the years & the price has gone up. Our most recent take out order was for over 100$ worth of sushi & more than half of them were just filled with tempura batter & a a bit of fish. Recent picture added. Really disappointing because this used to be one of my favorite spots. Pros: Very good quality sushi. Very reasonable prices. Offers many choices & meals other than sushi. Quick service. Offers delivery at no extra charge. Cons: The restaurant is a little small. We've never eaten physically in the restaurant & have always ordered our meals to go. The sushi is always fresh & they don't overkill it with rice, but find a good balance with the other ingredients. We will definitely be ordering here in the future as well.
I have never been in the restaurant, I have only ordered online, but it is bar none the best sushi I have ever had delivered. Fantastic. Worth the price if you like good sushi.
Amazing services, we were greeted with a welcoming smile by the waitor & got seated very quickly, the menu is huge with a vaste selection of szchuan & sushi. We had a mix of the two. General tao was very good & tasty , portion was extremly generous, chicken was lightly battered with a crispy exterior while the inner chicken was tender & soft. I also had the new volcano speciality roll which made the whole dinning room look at me drooling. Fried sweet patato patty with crispy crab tempura mixed with a house creamy sauce . Simply delicious :) my friends shared a combo for two people which let them to roll out of the restaurant simply because they had a fest over good food. As we payed at the counter , we were shocked at how inexpensive it was. Together for us three came to roughly 50$ with tips...... i was planning to spend over 70$ but no complaints here, on the contrary we were all complety satisfied . 10 out of 10 stars, we will be back soba sushi! Keep up the good work!
I held a birthday party at soba sushi recently & it went so well i must post my experience with u guys ( i dont normally do this) . So the staff was so friendly & helpful, i must say, their menu is so vast, i got lost but thankfully the waiter helped all 15 of us to choose out dish. Amazingly he got everyone's orders correctly, so thats a plus! their food was not to be forgotten, the display left us all in awe. I swear every of their dishes are made for 2! for 15$ you get piratically 2 meals! my favorite part of the whole dinner was that the waiter actually sang me happy birthday & brought the table free fried banana & green tea ice cream for me :) so happy that night! thanks soba!
Very true! We took our daughter there for a snack. The food was amazing according to her, and the waitress serving us was bending backwards......always with a smile on her face! And yes, it was indeed too much so she had to doggy-bag the rest. And this all happened when the place was full! Good job Soba!
