The food was good, nice portion sizes, the prawn appertizer was very nice, & the beef massaman was tasty. The dumplings & chicken satay were ok, but not amazing.
The service, however, was a real struggle. It took over 25 minutes to get a drink, & we had had a lot of issues trying to get our waiters attention to order & pay the bill, the sangria was very nice & we would have stayed for more, but it was to hard to get service so we gave up.
It's worth a visit, good thai food, not a must visit though.View more

Read many good reviews so our expectations were probably high. However, from the moment we walked in, the experience was good at best. We were shown to a table on the upper outer terrace covered in ants. We were moved inside at our request, but placed directly under the aircon outlet, so we were cold. The bottled beer I was served was beyond its best before date (only be a few days, so I wouldn't be mentioning this but for all of the other small things that just show a lack of attention to detail). A shared starter of Karee Puffs were really nice, but they came out on a bed of green leaves that were well beyond eating. They were dry, wilted & dead. I mentioned this to the server who didn't express any view & just shrugged his shoulders. The mains were tasty, but only warm, not helped by the aircon or the fact that we did not get new warm plates (our starter plates were left on the table). My wife had a red chicken curry (indicated at one chilli spice level) & I had the green beef curry (2 chilli), but there was no spice/heat in my curry at all. Overall, the venue looks great, & the food was tasty, but warm at best & very poorly presented. This experience was just not as good as it could have so easily been. Small improvements in attention to detail would make a huge difference.View more

I've been to Siam about four or five times now, & overall, I would say it's a solid, well-rounded restaurant. The space itself is elegant without being over the top. You can tell the restaurant is aiming for that more elevated dining experience, & in most ways, it succeeds.

Let's start with what keeps me coming back: the table d'hôte. It's kind of their signature offering, a generous spread of five to six starters, two mains, rice, & either tea or coffee to wrap up for 90$. It's a great format if you want to explore the menu in one sitting. You get variety, consistency, & good value for what you receive.

The appetizers are solid across the board. From crispy spring rolls & chicken satay to those coconut shrimp skewers & dumplings, everything comes out fresh, well plated, & balanced in flavour. The sauces are well thought out, sweet chili, peanut, nuoc cham, & the mango salad adds that much-needed crunch & acidity. It's not reinventing anything, but it's all well executed.

The real star, though & I don't say this lightly is the beef red curry! It's phenomenal. The beef is so tender it literally melts in your mouth, like butter on a hot skillet. The curry itself is rich, velvety, & full of depth. You get layers of flavour: creamy coconut, a punch of chili heat, those unmistakable notes of lemongrass & kaffir lime, all balanced in a way that hits the palate just right. I've had it every single time I've gone, & it's one of the few dishes I'd actually describe as addictive.

Now... the less exciting part. The table d'hôte hasn't changed in at least three years. Same starters, same mains, same everything. & while it's comforting to know what to expect, I do think the menu could benefit from a bit of seasonal rotation or at least one or two new additions. For a place that positions itself on the higher end, a little evolution would go a long way. When I go out for this kind of dining experience, part of the joy is in discovering new things... & right now, that's missing.

That's where the five-star rating drops a bit for me. It's not the quality, that's there. It's the lack of freshness in the offering over time.

The drink menu is solid but leans expensive. Cocktails are well made & beautifully presented, tropical, often layered with Thai flavours like basil, ginger, or mango, but again, it adds up quickly, especially if you're doing the full menu.

Service is generally great, professional & warm, & the pace is well managed. You can feel the intention of offering a more refined experience. That said, I did have one visit that really missed the mark. One of the mains came out bland, which was a shock given how flavourful the food usually is. The dish was genuinely disappointing, & unfortunately, the staff didn't acknowledge it or offer anything to make up for it, which, to be honest, was a bit of a letdown at this price point. But in fairness, it was a one-time thing out of several great meals.

Most recently, I brought my partner, who's from Asia & usually quite tough to impress when it comes to Southeast Asian cuisine. He was genuinely impressed, with the flavours, the attention to detail, & the plating. That reaction alone gave me some reassurance that despite the stagnant menu, the core quality is still there.

So yes, Siam is still a place I would recommend. The dishes are consistent, visually beautiful, & generally packed with flavour. It's just time for the menu to get the same kind of attention the plating & ambiance already do.View more

I was hosting a Bridal Shower for my friend & thankfully Siam offered a private room. They were extremely accommodating with us bringing our decor, setting up, & bringing in little treats. The staff were extremely welcoming. Oliver was funny, kind & went above & beyond for us & the group. (As you can tell in the photo- He had the soon to be bride & guests laughing the entire time).

Not only that, the food was AMAZING. We had ordered from the set menu. Which was extremely worth it. I had gotten the Chicken Satay skewers (Super tender & flavourful) & the Green Beef Curry. (The amount of meat was generous which is usually rare for fancy places). Both of these dishes were amazing & I've had lots of Thai food.

Other than our room, the interior of the restaurant was beautiful & had a massive buddha statue, which I loveee.

I am from out of town, so hosting an event in another city is hard, but Siam made it extremely easy for me & I did not feel judged or pressured by the staff with the amount of decor we had.

Would recommend 100%View more

Decent food, decent service. Got the Khao Soi with beef & the panang curry with tofu (substituted beef)

Panang was watery, & traditionally it tends to be the thickest of the curries but that was not the case.

Khao Soi was good, would definitely come back again.

Mango sticky rice was delicious! Reminded me of my trip to Thailand.View more

The place is okay, I don't find it extremely fancy but the food is very good, the beef curry is to die for, the meat was perfectly cooked & the sauce with the rice was exquisite. My bf had the fried chicken & it was quite good too, the only down side of our experience was the dessert, I really love mango sticky rice but their version of it is not it, the flavor is underwhelming, there are mango bits that taste like pastry rather than the actual fruit, I was really disappointed. I understand that they are trying to elevate the dish but in this case, less is better, stick to the original PLEASE.View more

Visited Siam's for lunch on a Friday. Vibe & decor were amazing. Our server was attentive & enthusiastic which made the overall experience pleasant.
Food-wise I had better Thai food at other restaurants. Started off with the shrimp tom yum & beef satay which were good although I wish the satay came with peanut sauce instead of their homemade sriracha which tasted like the normal ones you can find at the supermarket.
For mains we had the cashew nut chicken with an upgrade to the vegetable fried rice, I loved this dish! The pad kee mao was okay & the rice noodles lacked the nice chewy texture, however it was loaded with beef & veggies. Portions are really good here!
I would return again to give some of their other dishes a try. They also have an extensive menu to choose from.View more

The food was really good! One of the best (we took entry coconut shrimp, main, peanut chicken & beef green curry) but the service super bad, the server forgot what I ordered, in the open bar from the table you could see the employees making jokes & being super unprofessional, when we left the restaurant we said thank you to the host & we were completely ignored, it looks like she was too busy telling jokes with her coworker. In general really really good food, but the staff in general super unprofessional.View more

We recently went to Siam Centre-Ville for a celebratory dinner. I must say that the food was exceptional & the experience was pleasant, friendly & professional. We ordered cocktails, spring (salad) rolls, a stir-fry & green curry beef. The presentation & flavours were appealing. But the green curry was the star dish though. Incredible. It was aromatic & mildly spicy. The dish also came with some additional fresh chilis if you prefer your food to be more spicy. However, what I appreciated the most was the attention & care taken with allergens. There is a separate menu that explains the allergens in the menu items. Thus, I was able to order a gluten & dairy-free meal. I highly recommend & will definitely be back.View more

This place looked nice & had a lot of great reviews. 2 of the 5 people liked their choices. The tofu was way too sweet, so couldn't be eaten. The panang beef was almost 50% fat & zero vegetables. I felt sick later that night & today, in spite of cutting off the fat. My husband, who loves green curry, could barely get through his. It was a Saturday night & they were kind to squeeze us in. We could see the wait person was running behind, so we did not order any beverages so as it to overload her. I had to finally go up to the bar to get appropriate flatware for my dish & she never checked in on us. We opted to not order desserts as she was clearly overloaded & had to inquire with the front desk for a check. We love Thai, but this was disappointing.View more

Restaurant has nice indoor & outdoor seating options. We sat inside. Cocktails were tasty but weak on the alcohol. Barely tasted the alcohol. I ordered panang beef curry. The sauce was excellent but the beef came as two pieces & they were tough & too fatty for my liking. The cashew chicken was excellent as per my guest. The waiter was very friendly & service was good. I would go back but I would not order the beef dish again.View more

Second time dinning at Siam & we weren't impressed. We did really like the beef skewers & our cocktails. The chicken wings were also good. But the drunken noodles was just okay & the beef in it, was flavorless. It was supposed to be spicy but it just wasn't. Same thing for my seafood curry, just ok & the bowl of rice that comes with it, is so small, not enough for the curry. The seafood is 3 small shrimps, 1 scallop cut in 3, 3 small clams & 2 small pieces of calamari. Not many veggies. The flavor was just ok nothing special. It also says that the curry is spicy but my ginger cocktail was spicier... The decoration is really nice & so is the ambiance. But we didn't spend over 80$ for the decorations so it was disappointing. Last time it was the same, we enjoyed the appetizers & the cocktails but the dishes were disappointing.View more

Food was great & so amazing. One of the best tasting Asian food I have tried in downtown Montreal. My favorites were the Duck wontons (yummy), Panang Curry beef, Red curry duck, Khao yam (Rainbow salad), Kai Yang (Thai Roasted chicken) & Satay chicken. The Kai Yang chicken was phenomenal. The curries were all great specially the Panang curry beef (very tender & soft). The Khao yam was the best salad I have ever tasted ever; savoury & a tasty variety of Asian flavours. The Kai Yang was so flavourful, so yummy. The drinks were also good. We had the taro & mango flavoured desserts. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is the service. The service was extra super super slow & indifferent. I could not get the waiter. I would have had to do acrobatics to get his attention. I would probably die of choking & still not get the water. I wanted to order but nobody seems to want to serve us & we had to wait so long to get someone & order something. Even paying was so long & tiresome. If only the service was good, I would have given 10 stars because food was amazing. The place also felt a bit crowded. When I made the reservation I specifically asked for a nice cozy, quiet & private area because it is for a birthday but we were in a crowded & noisy area. The bathroom was nice & clean at least & the seats were comfortable.View more

This is one of my favourite Thai restaurants in the city, because the quality of the food is very good. Used to be on the pricey side with the green curry beef at $35. Happy to see they've added a chicken option for green curry. However, there "to go" packaging especially when catering for Uber needs work. My tasty delicious food came in sloppy packages & made a mess on my counter & in the delivery bag.View more

Excellent Thai food with an upscale vibe. Tried the following Papaya salad - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ not too spicy but a little heavy on the fish sauce. Chicken Tom Yum soup - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - good flavor, not spicy - the bowl is small considering the price. Green curry with braised beef - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ excellent flavor & the beef is super tender. Recommended, I am sure the chicken version is also a good pick. Drunken noodles with beef - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - excellent flavor & texture, really enjoyed it. Mango sticky rice - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - nice presentation & good flavyand texture - I expected more fresh mango on the top. Cocktails - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - the mango sticky rice signature drink is a a winner, good flavor & not skimpy on the alcohol ... obviously is a sweet drink. Overall really enjoyed the place, I could say that this is the best Thai food place in MTL. All dishes pack flavor & have high quality ingredients but the prices are on the expensive side. Good pick for date night ... Will definitely visit again.View more

I am very picky about where I eat. Food is an experience for me, it is something to enjoy. So when I saw this place had duck on red curry, I had to try it. My surprise was significant when we sat down & the duck on red curry that was on display on a picture at front was not on the menu. So we asked if it was possible to order it, server said "yes, is just extra"... Fast forward to the bill, we were charged for beef curry at cad$32 & duck cad$17, which means the duck on red curry cost us cad$48, & we never saw the beef that we were being charged for; which means white rice & red curry (no veggies) cost $32. How is that possible! & honestly, the food was okay. It wasn't great, it wasn't bad either. Just okay. My surprise at the veggie less duck curry was such that I didn't take any pictures of it. The only meal worthwhile was the seafood salad.View more

This place turned out to be a delightful surprise, offering the best Thai food you've ever had. The standout items, recommended by the waitress, were the beef curry, Chef Panties Crispy Chicken, & Pad Thai. To top it off, the mango cocktail left quite an impression with its creativity.

While the chicken dumplings & imperial rolls didn't quite reach the same level of excellence, they were still enjoyable. The icing on the cake was the pristine service, which left you impressed enough to leave a generous tip. This restaurant seems to have hit all the right notes for a memorable dining experience.View more

Came here late on a Monday & it was surprisingly busy! Had to wait about 20-30min to order our food. Waiter was great helping us choose safe gluten-free dishes. Had to wait another 30-40min for our meals. They did apologize for the delay which we appreciated them acknowledging. Got the spring rolls & satay for an app which both had an addicting peanut sauce! For main we got beef & pepper stir fry & pad sew with steak. All very satisfyingView more
