My boyfriend saw this restaurant on Tik Tok & we both agreed that it looked beautiful. I booked a reservation here for my his birthday a week in advance. The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere, but unfortunately we were seated right by the kitchen. The restaurant played jazz music, but the kitchen staff were blasting rap music from the kitchen, which ruined the calm, jazzy atmosphere of the restaurant. We went on a Monday night, & there were plenty of other tables we could've sat at. Considering the fact that I booked the reservation so far ahead of the date of the dinner, I expected to be sat at a table with a bit more ambiance. We were both too shy to ask our table to be switched, so we dealt with it. The service was good despite a mix-up with our drinks. My boyfriend ordered chardonnay & I ordered rosé. They served our drinks, & gave him the rosé & gave me the chardonnay. The waitress mixed up the drinks, & they also poured the drinks in the wrong glasses (my rosé was poured into the champagne glass, & vice versa). As for the meal, I ordered a tuna poke bowl & was satisfied with it, & he ordered the Bao with general tao chicken. He was not very satisfied, because his sandwich was just filled with chicken (nothing else inside the sandwich, but there was a salad on the side). He was not very satisfied with his meal, which was especially disappointing since it was his birthday. He also didn't appreciate how leaky & messy his meal was, & he found that the bread didn't absorb the liquid well. Overall, I was pretty let down by this experience, especially since it was his birthday & I made the reservation so far in advance. The reviews on Tik Tok were exceptional, & my expectations were very high. I can't say this restaurant lived up to its reviews, unfortunately. I wasn't very impressed with the service.View more
The place was hopping as usual. The dumplings was good- but sadly cold! The general Tao chicken was partially cold- but warm underneath. Interesting drink selection. Service was kind- but staff seemed overwhelmed- but always with a smile. Great place for my vegan friend !!!!!View more

An Asian fusion restaurant on Sainte Catherine street which is always crowded. We have to book on-line to get the table. Food is more Asian. There are Padthai, PadSew, Wanton, Tao, Poké & Bao. Mocktails are ok, not great. Food is good, not wow but it is alright if you are craving for Asian food. There are also some outdoor tables.View more

We used to eat at Sesame regularly before shows at Place des Arts, in pre-Covid days. They are in a new location now across the street, & it is a great improvement. Much brighter, more spacious, slick & modern, & much less noisy. One has to remember that Sesame is fusion Asian cuisine. The butter chicken my friend had is not an authentic Indian butter chicken, & the General Tao chicken I had was not the authentic Chinese dish, but they were both excellent. Sesame's own fusion take on these classic Asian dishes. Both were served with the same steamed rice, Jasmine I think, & the same very good, fresh & crispy sautéed vegetables. Everything sprinkled with sesame seeds as well of course. Our server was excellent. My friend is allergic (but not critically) to all forms of soya protein, so Sesame can be a challenging experience. She helped us navigate through the menu patiently & professionally. She checked with the kitchen when she wasn't sure & she came back several times to make sure my friend was happy. Great location, atmosphere, & service. The food itself was mostly just ok for our group of 4. Pork dumplings & deep fried wonton were good, different flavors from what we've experienced in the past. The orange gochujang, general Tao, & pad thai flavors seemed off to us, but ok. I think with a few menu changes this place cold be great.View more

The general Tao was flavourless. The chicken was overcooked. There wasn't enough sauce. The pieces were small. The rice & vegetables were watery with no seasoning or taste. The general Tao used to be so much better. & at $24 it's like stealing. I've been a loyal client for years at the Atwater location. But back then it was great. Now it sucks. Never eating at
Sesame again. So much better food out there.

J'aimerais avoir le choix entre riz blanc & riz brun comme c'est le cas dans d'autres restaurants semblables. Pas assez le légumes dans le plat. Le tout était toutefois très bon (tofu général Tao). Je recommande ce restaurant.
