We went for Valentine's Day & overall had a decent experience. The set menu was very reasonably priced, especially for the occasion, & the service was good. A special shoutout to the woman who stepped in on what was clearly a busy night, she was warm, attentive, & great.
The food was a mix. Some real highlights: the mushroom arancini bite was excellent, the magret de canard was very well done, & the dessert was my coup de coeur of the evening. However, the morue was quite disappointing (especially since it's usually something we love), & the tuna entrée felt very basic & lacked flavor. The braised veal was just okay.
The ambiance was also average. We were seated at the back near the kitchen hallway with storage directly behind our table, which made it feel less intimate than expected for Valentine's Day. It may have just been our table or the busy evening, but overall we left a little disappointed.
We came to Sauce for our Valentine's Dinner. We loved it!
The food was outstanding & the atmosphere was cozy & warm. We live in the neighborhood (Pt St Charles) & wanted to try Sauce. We found it interesting that it was connected to an adjacent restaurant that had live music & shows.
Our party of 4 was thrilled. The entrees were generous & flavorful. Chef Dom even came out & greeted us at our table.
The wine selection was excellent & the service was impeccable.
We are so pleased to have had this experience & will return for another special occasion.

The food was just okay.
The wine list was limited, especially the wine selection by the glass for a wine bar/buvette.
The service was fine. The wine list is nearly exclusively Italian wines, but we had no real presentation of the wines, a focus on Italian varietals or terroir. The decision to limit the wine list to Italian wines didn't seem to match the rest of the restaurant & wasn't a plus, as far as making the experience special/interesting/unique.
We wouldn't recommend it, nor consider going back, at the price point & the fantastic selection of restaurants in Montreal.
We dined at Sauce on a Saturday evening. We were a party of four (4).
We call this our Magical Evening. The service was outstanding. Our dishes were well prepared & reflected the care & attention provided by Domenico & his staff.
We were so pleased to find this please. It was warm, comforting & exhibited an attention to detail.
We will be back & encourage all to support this fine establishment.
Best,
Hicham
Wow! Delicious food, generous portions, attentive but unobtrusive service... honestly, one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The young chef & his staff deserve to be recognized! We will certainly be back soon; an absolute delight!
Un petit bijoux de resto
Des gens sympathiques proche du monde
Nourriture excellente
Savoir recevoir est un art, ils le maîtrisent bien !
I've been to Sauce Buvette du Quartier many times, & every visit is unforgettable.
Every time I go, I have to order the Bresaola, the whipped ricotta, & their calamari they never miss. I've also been getting the lobster-filled ravioli with an order of focaccia, & it's absolutely insane.
What makes it even more impressive is that there's only one person in the kitchen. Domenico cooks everything himself, Wednesday to Saturday, lunch & dinner.
Then there's the cocktail & wine list such a unique variety. I always order the Il Carbonaione, & it's the perfect pairing with the lobster ravioli.
Best part about this is is that it had free parking at the back no need to find a parking lot on the street!😊
Fantastic meal! The food was absolutely delicious… fresh, flavorful, & perfectly prepared. What really made the night was the excellent service from Duncan. He was attentive, friendly, & made me feel very welcome. A wonderful overall experience. I'll be back!
Went here for the spectra deal. Overall decent for the deal price, though the drinks were expensive for what they were.
The bresaiola & arancini apps were okay. My friends really enjoyed their braised beef, but the bisque pasta was kinda tasteless not at all like bisque. Also way too many cherry tomatoes dumped on it. Dessert was simple.
Wine was good, though at one point my friend got a mulled wine instead of a normal red. Not sure how that happened. My to-kill-a (tequila) spider just tasted like cassis & sugar.
Live music wasn't great unfortunately, & I'm usually pretty supportive of amateur acts. Cool decor though.
Service was friendly & accommodating but needed to be trained better. Not sure why they don't give you a bill with the price breakdown before paying.
