About

Sam cha provides a specialized Korean barbecue experience centered on interactive tabletop grilling. Patrons select from a curated variety of marinated meats and fresh vegetables prepared directly at the table for optimal flavor profile control. The menu emphasizes traditional culinary techniques featuring essential staples such as kimchi, soybean paste stews, and seasoned side dishes that accompany the primary protein options. Each meal centers on the tactile process of searing slices of beef and pork over charcoal or gas flames to achieve a distinctively charred texture. The interior layout prioritizes functional efficiency to accommodate social groups focused on communal cooking. This establishment maintains a robust focus on authentic seasoning profiles and high quality ingredients, ensuring that the preparation techniques remain consistent with regional Korean standards for grill house cuisine.

Review Summary

Sam Cha is widely regarded as a standout destination for authentic and flavorful Korean cuisine in Montreal, consistently earning praise for its delicious dishes such as the creamy fried chicken, kimchi fries, spicy udon, and beef tartar. Many patrons appreciate the cozy, vibrant atmosphere and the quality of the food, which often feels homemade and reasonably priced. While the restaurant is frequently busy and can become quite noisy due to its popularity with students and locals, the staff is generally described as helpful and welcoming. Although wait times and table spacing are sometimes noted as minor challenges, the consistent quality of the menu and the overall energetic environment make it a highly recommended spot for those seeking a satisfying and reliable Korean dining experience.

Très bon tteokbokki.
Si vous aimez les fruits de mer. Essayez les tteokbokki ou udon rosés.
Excellent rapport qualité prix.

Had takeout from this Korean restaurant, very satisfied. Friendly staff that always put up a smile.
I have went here before to have their beef tartare & bibimbap. Stunning as always.
Make sure to reserve or come earlier during weekends as the place can be packed.

I wish you could brought back the ayce bbq, it was one of the best ayce in montreal. Sadly cancelled after covid.

Food
The Kim Chi was really good & a generous serving. 2 types on the plate & well enjoyed.
Bibimbap was ok.
Cocktails were yhe low point. Glasses are way too big so the drinks are too diluted. Just a bland drink. Also, i dont want a litre of soda in my cocktail. Didnt drink it.

Service.
Very friendly, but cocktails took close to 20 minutes to be served & were then really bad.
Other than raking order & serving meal never came to check on us.
Overall just ok.

A cozy family-style Korean restaurant. The bibimbap here is very authentic & tasty, according to both me & my friend who has lived in Korea for 2 years. & the price is reasonable.

Best Okonomiyaki I've ever had. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.

Soondubu is flavorful- salty & spicy. Tteokbokki was chewy & slightly sweet & spicy. Good food!

if you're planning to come around 5:30pm-7pm on the weekends, make sure to have a reservation or you can join the online queue & they will text you when your table is ready, it gets really busy-for good reason!

The soondubu jjigae is so flavourful,
