Great poutine. The small without meat was more than enough for 2 looking for a snack. More would have been too heavy. We liked the helpful, friendly staff & the Portuguese pops they had in the fridge.

Ok, so you know, it is 5 stars for the food, the 4 stars have nothing to do with the food.
A staple in Montreal since Fernando Machado opened Romados in 1994. George Karaglanis & Vicki Eliopoulos took over Romados, a Portuguese chicken restaurant in from the Machado family in 2021.
This place has character, history, tradition, pride, & has become a staple in the Montreal foodservice scene akin to Schwartz's on the Main.
They have been pumping out some of the best Portuguese rotisserie chicken in the city, & whenever I am hungry & in the area I end up having an impulsive meal filled with perfectly home made french fries & succulent chicken that rivals any competitor. To not eat here is a restaurant experience sin!
Atmosphere is nothing to speak of & service is pretty good given the (what always seems like) a constant line of people rushing to eat.
Go, eat, enjoy, & tell me I am wrong - I dare you.
Casual restaurant specializing in Portuguese-style rotisserie chicken, fries & pasteis de nata. I tagged along with a meat eater; there weren't many vegan options for me other than fries & a side salad.
Delicious! I ordered spicy chicken sandwich & fries for myself & everything was amazing! The spicy chicken sandwich was pretty normal (though they do put the spicy sauce on the bread so be aware of that) but the fries was where it truly shined! The fries had a waxy & salty flavor with a sweet undertone & it was the best that I ever had. I finished all the fries in one sitting! Will come back!
Great local spot, staff is friendly as can be (my French is rusty, apologies, New Brunswick changed its programming for French four times in my academic career; my Portuguese is non-existent, & speaking Spanish would just bewilder them, I assume) in English, French, or Portuguese. Solid Piri Piri Chicken poutine, insanely good Bifana. & the prices are good, too. Also, if you want some fresh crusty rolls, they're cheap as can be. ($1.99 for 6 fresh rolls? Sign me up!)
I recently visited this restaurant & tried their Portuguese roast chicken, which was amazing! The roast chicken had a crispy skin, tender & juicy meat, & every bite was full of rich spices & unique roasted flavor. The marinating & roasting of the chicken were just right. The restaurant environment is also very comfortable, & the waiter was friendly & enthusiastic, recommending several Portuguese sauces & side dishes that were perfect with the roast chicken. After the meal, we also enjoyed their special dessert, which was a perfect end to the whole dining experience. Overall, this dining experience was very satisfying & highly recommended to friends who like Portuguese food. Will definitely come back!
This was one of the most popular places where we came with friends & family to eat fried chicken on charcoal. Unfortunately, the price increases twice every year, & recently a whole chicken has increased from $18 to $20.99. Or rather, everything has increased in price by 12%. The affordability was the number one factor besides the quality which is taken away.
Good bang for your buck. They give a lot of fries, a reasonable amount of meat, & a salad for around 17$ It tastes light but the more you eat, the saltier it gets. Not a lot of people sitting in the restaurant but theres a constant roll of in & outs. Good place to visit.
Been missing Romados when COVID hit us all. Went today after more than 3 years. No line-up?! Well, i can say why... there's nothing good anymore of the "old" Romados. Here we get some generic grilled chicken that doesn't have the distinctive charcoal & piri piri taste. Gone. The rice was hard & tasteless as the chicken. The poutine (regular) was tasty (brown gravy!) but little to no cheese curds. Only redeeming thing is fries are still good & service is good also. I gotta say this but even St-Hu... piri-piri chicken taste way better than the now Romados. Will not be going back anymore. RIP Romados. Sad but true.
I live just around the corner from this place so I'm in there a lot. Not only is the food amazing but the staff are just the best. So friendly & welcoming- makes it stand out.
