Bringing 25 years of celebrated culinary tradition from Old Quebec's Théâtre Capitole to the heart of Montreal, Il Teatro is a premier destination for contemporary Italian dining. This vibrant 6,000-square-foot establishment is designed as a true gathering place. The striking decor features a grand central bar for aperitifs, a lively open kitchen, and an Italian-inspired fountain that anchors the dining room.
The menu emphasizes high-quality ingredients and the joy of sharing, offering beloved house classics such as authentic Neapolitan pizzas, fresh pastas, and carefully crafted meat and seafood dishes. With its highly convivial atmosphere, Il Teatro is perfectly positioned for a vibrant pre-show meal or a relaxed, lingering evening over a great glass of wine.
Reviews portray Il Teatro as a stylish Italian restaurant with a warm atmosphere, a wood-fired oven, and a menu that shines with well prepared pasta, pizzas, and desserts; starters like eggplant and artichoke are frequently praised, as are the mortadella pizza, the cod, and tiramisu, while the service is described as attentive and friendly and the decor as impressive, contributing to a generally high satisfaction level; some comments note high prices for the portions, a few early stage service hiccups, and occasional long waits, but many guests say they would return and see it as a good pre or post show option in the theater district; overall the experience comes across as refined, flavorful, and welcoming with room for consistency and value adjustments.
It was my first time & it was delicious!! Our server was very nice & helped us with drinks recommendations. The ambiance was calm not too loud we can talk & enjoy our dinner date. Would definitely return again!
Beautiful new restaurant. Decor is lovely. Limited menu currently but enough options. Hostess needs to be more accommodating & thoughtful about seating requests, especially when the restaurant is mostly empty & it is a special occasion meal. Waitress was knowledgeable. Food was quite good - flavorful & good portion sizes. Very good wine options.
Très sympathique & bien situé. Service impeccable.

Visited the restaurant as my first stop in the city. This newly opened Italian restaurant provides authentic Italian food. Their pasta are made freshly & you can taste the olive oil which is fresh as well. Had a pleasant time & their staff Amanda is friendly & welcoming! 100% recommending this place.
My husband & I decided to try this restaurant for a date night on Saturday the 16th. We arrived around 7:15 PM without a reservation. Although the restaurant appeared only about half full, we were told by the host that they were at full capacity & could not seat us at a table, so we were placed at the bar instead.
What made the experience frustrating was that throughout the entire evening - until we left around 9:30 PM - the restaurant only became emptier, & many tables remained available. We completely understand that reservations are prioritized, but it never seemed close to full capacity, which made the explanation we were given feel misleading.
The food itself was good, & the waitress who served us at the bar was excellent & provided great service. Unfortunately, the attitude from the host & the feeling that we were not being given an honest explanation left a very negative impression. Because of that experience, we likely won't be returning.
