I was visiting from Toronto & craving some good Habesha food while in Montreal. After some searching, I found Nakfa Restaurant & decided to give it a try; & I'm glad I did! I ordered the combo for one, which came with a generous mix of meat & vegan options: white tibs, key tibs, shiro, cabbage, greens, salad, & a spicy red key siga wot called zigni. Everything was delicious & well-prepared; full of flavor & cooked perfectly. The portion was just right for one person, & I also enjoyed a nice cup of tea with the meal.
The service was good, though there's a bit of room for improvement. The space is quite small, & it wasn't easy to find a seat. I found the price a bit higher than what I'm used to in Toronto; I paid around $50 including a 15% tip; not sure why the difference, but the quality made up for it.
Overall, it was a great experience & a solid spot for authentic Habesha food in Montreal. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a taste of Eritrean/Ethiopian cuisine in the city!View more

I visited this restaurant last week with friends & had such a great experience! The food was absolutely delicious, & the person working there was kind & helpful. It was my first time trying Eritrean cuisine, & I was pleasantly surprised by how similar it is to Ethiopian food. The menu offers great sharing options, & I highly recommend ordering a combo to enjoy with friends. This little gem is definitely worth a visit, & I'm already looking forward to coming back!View more
