About

Restaurant Kawami serves a robust selection of authentic Szechuan cuisine characterized by bold peppercorn spices and intricate aromatic profiles. The menu features specialized grilled dishes that showcase traditional Asian techniques, emphasizing high heat and precise seasoning to develop deep flavors. Diners encounter a wide array of options ranging from intensely spicy stir-fries to carefully prepared regional specialties. The kitchen prioritizes fresh ingredients to ensure every plate maintains a consistent standard of quality and complexity. This establishment creates an environment centered on culinary focus where the intensity of the grill meets the sharp, numbing heat of classic Szechuan cooking. Each dish demonstrates a commitment to the foundational elements of Asian gastronomy, providing a direct and uncompromising experience for those seeking genuine, flavor-forward meals in a structured, efficient setting.

Review Summary

Restaurant Kawami offers a reliably authentic dining experience featuring fresh, generously portioned dishes that arrive quickly. Many patrons appreciate the ability to bring their own wine and find the setting suitable for both business lunches and large group gatherings. While some traditional Szechuan dishes may have a milder spice profile than expected, the flavors remain delicious and the menu includes a variety of options, including customizable vegetarian plates. Overall, the combination of high quality, attentive service, and an inviting atmosphere makes this a location that many look forward to visiting again.

Went there for a mid-weekday lunch & got seated right away with a freshly brewed tea pot. As my first visit I though I'd keep it simple (& safe) with the lunch menu. Got the general tao chicken, which came with a bowl of rice & plenty of sauteed vegetables (bok choy, green broccoli & more) in a delicious Chinese white sauce. The serving was very generous & PIPING hot, typical of the authentic wok hei method (the breath of the dragon). The rest of the menu looks amazing & authentically Sichuanese.

As I was about to leave an audibly sizzling plate of sesame beef on a hot cast iron skillet passed me by, panting with eagerness to come back to this place soon.
