I was a big fan of Hidden Fish, & now I am a huge fan of Fish Eye. Cant wait to go back.

The Fish Eye's opening night was an underwhelming performance.

While the 45 minute wait for the dish to be served might well be forgiven on an opening night, the restaurant's nebulous concept & identity are harder to overlook. The culinary quality fell well below the high standards set by other Montreal establishments in the area. For exceptional Japanese food at a better value, diners are better off at Kazu, & for a Michelin-starred French cuisine experience, Jérôme Ferrer's Europea is just across the street. Even their sushi offering pales in comparison to their sister branch, Hidden Fish.

Ultimately, the menu is far too expansive, & the execution doesn't measure up to the competition in the area. Simply middling.

This is a sister restaurant of hidden fish, I have been there a few times so expectations were already high for this.

This was an a great place with lovely ambiance, we enjoyed the meal with our friends. The food was exceptional with a large menu to choose from, my friends have a lot of dietary restrictions & they were served well. I recommend to try this 10/10.

I visited Fish Eye on both opening night & the night after, which gave me a perspective most people don't get to have. Opening night was packed - honestly, amazing to see for a brand new restaurant - & yes, the service felt it. But the food was outstanding both nights without exception, & by the second night everything was running much more smoothly. That contrast tells you a lot. If the kitchen holds up during opening week, the foundation is solid. I love Hidden Fish, so I was curious whether Fish Eye would live up to that standard. It does :) The staff were super kind too, which always makes a difference. Highly recommend giving it a try!

Oh what a disappointment! It's is profoundly sad that this is a sister restaurant of Hidden Fish. The menu had waaaaay too many items so the entire concept was completely lost. What was the concept anyhow?! The kitchen was so overwhelmed & everyone looked so unhappy. The service was terrible. The first appetizer arrived 50 min later & then a total chaos- we received the main then an appetizer again then a main then a roll of sushi. Even drink orders (diet coke) arrived 25 min later. The one cocktail we ordered followed after another 15 min.
Now the food- the cucumber salad with strachino cheese?! The person who composed this doesn't understand Asian or Italian food. The Kara age was so oily, it was not edible. The tuna roll should have been called the chives roll with tuna as a vehicle for the aforementioned exuberant amount of chives. The tuna sashimi look like it was cut with a chainsaw. The lamb & duck dishes were ok but didn't fit the concept (if there is a concept) at all. Overall suggestion: close the place, rethink the concept, trim the menu. Awful, just awful!
