Review Summary

Reviews consistently highlight QDC Burger as a standout for flavorful burgers, creative toppings, and attentive service, with many diners calling it the best burger in Montreal and praising the hospitality of the staff and owner. The dining experience is described as welcoming and lively, though a few notes mention loud music, occasional service hiccups, and price or portion concerns; overall, guests are impressed by the high quality beef, house sauces, crispy fries, and the artisanal vibe, and many plan to return to try different burgers, including veggie and wagyu options.

If you're reading the mixed reviews & hesitating - let me settle it for you.

People complain about the price. $28 for a burger, fries, & a drink. Here's what they're missing: Peter is using USDA Prime & Canadian AAA beef, dry-aged richness, jumbo Cajun shrimp on the Surf & Turf, real Wagyu on the Wagyu burger, foie gras, black truffle, lobster - these are steakhouse-grade ingredients on a brioche bun. Go price out a steak dinner with these same ingredients anywhere in Old Montreal & come back to me about value. The Rico Opera alone eats like a fine dining experience compressed into a burger.

The fries are not an afterthought - they're some of the best in the city, served with a house garlic aioli you'll want to take home in a jar. The short rib poutine is decadent in the way poutine is supposed to be but almost never is. The French Dip might be the sleeper hit of the menu.

& then there's Peter. Some reviews call him intense. He is. He's a chef who cares deeply about how his food is meant to be eaten & isn't going to pretend otherwise to get a tip. If you walk in expecting a fast-food transaction, you'll be confused. If you walk in curious, ask him what to order, trust the recommendation, & pay attention to the plate in front of you - you'll get one of the best meals in Montreal & a real conversation with the guy who made it. That's not a flaw. That's the entire point.

This place was born out of Queue de Cheval, an institution of Montreal. The DNA is still there. You're not paying burger prices because it isn't a burger joint - it's a steakhouse that happens to put it between two buns.

Stop reading reviews. Just Go.

Stopped in for our last lunch in Montreal. Burger & French dip were delicious. Fries seemed a little undercooked, might just be the Canadian way, but to me felt a bit raw.

Stopped in for lunch on the last day of our trip here. The burgers, French dip, & short rib poutine were all delicious. Service was quick & friendly. If you don't like it here: you can't fix stupid!

The hostess was really nice & accommodating. However, I couldn't be served in French by the guy at the counter, which was unfortunate. The food was good, but it didn't say on the menu that the mac & cheese is spicy, which I wish would've been disclosed to me, & that the classic poutine's sauce taste more like bbq sauce than gravy.

When we walked past the place I thought it was just one of those tourist traps based on having a person to "throw in" customers. We walked past the place & decided to skip & after searching for a decent burger place we navigated again around the area & realized that the place we first ignored by appereances was the better rated place :) Anyways we ate couple of burgers & they were really good & tasty, very much eatable by hands only which in my books makes it a good burger. The french fries were a bit "montreal-ish" so a bit limp but that is just my opinion. My only problem was that almost every burger had mushrooms in it but luckily it was not a problem for the staff to serve the portion without the mushrooms.

Best burger I have ever eaten! High quality patties cooked deliciously with high quality ingredients. The french fries are also very tasty. A must have for any carnivores gastronomic journey in Montreal.

First time⏬ We were seated outside. Nice day so it worked out in our favor. The waiter was quick but helpful. I don't think she realized that we were new to place. You have to order inside & the server will bring your food. We each ordered a drink 2 Pink Sangria : recommended by the waiter. It was refreshing but the liquor was a little on the weak side. So this is for anyone who doesn't like a lot of alcohol in their drinks. 1 Jack & coke : 10/10 my sister couldn't stop talking about how good her drink was. She also raved about the ice cream so we went to all ice cream shops looking for it & no one has it. Food Poutine: 8/10 this was my first time trying this well known dish but it wasn't what we heard. It was fresh but the gravy was super thick. I didn't like that. The cheese curds were an okay size, not sure if it could've been cut down a little. I also think they should've fried the French fries a little harder before adding the gravy. I'm not sure about my suggestions because this was our first time trying the dish.

Great burgers, being in Quebec don't be surprised the primary language is French, friendly service & delicious burgers & fries. If I'm ever back that way, I'd go again. I had the O' & Terre burger.

After a long day at the GP Canada in the cold & wet four guys stumbled across this little place. We were starved. A Quick Look at the menus & the fast seating by the owner made us relieved. The French dip was photo worthy ! There was a mild spice that was accented by the dip but nothing too overwhelming. Tom (red shirt) spoke to the owner about this being his reboot post Covid times & how he was doing well. If you are here in Montreal add this to a favorite, you won't be sorry.

I had the most amazing lamb burger, my partner had the French dip, both were fabulous. Great menu! Definitely recommend lamb burger, French dip & poutine! The owner, Pete, is both accommodating & lots of fun. Top notch ingredients. This is definitely not just an average burger joint! Don't wait, go now!
