If you're reading the mixed reviews & hesitating - let me settle it for you.
People complain about the price. $28 for a burger, fries, & a drink. Here's what they're missing: Peter is using USDA Prime & Canadian AAA beef, dry-aged richness, jumbo Cajun shrimp on the Surf & Turf, real Wagyu on the Wagyu burger, foie gras, black truffle, lobster - these are steakhouse-grade ingredients on a brioche bun. Go price out a steak dinner with these same ingredients anywhere in Old Montreal & come back to me about value. The Rico Opera alone eats like a fine dining experience compressed into a burger.
The fries are not an afterthought - they're some of the best in the city, served with a house garlic aioli you'll want to take home in a jar. The short rib poutine is decadent in the way poutine is supposed to be but almost never is. The French Dip might be the sleeper hit of the menu.
& then there's Peter. Some reviews call him intense. He is. He's a chef who cares deeply about how his food is meant to be eaten & isn't going to pretend otherwise to get a tip. If you walk in expecting a fast-food transaction, you'll be confused. If you walk in curious, ask him what to order, trust the recommendation, & pay attention to the plate in front of you - you'll get one of the best meals in Montreal & a real conversation with the guy who made it. That's not a flaw. That's the entire point.
This place was born out of Queue de Cheval, an institution of Montreal. The DNA is still there. You're not paying burger prices because it isn't a burger joint - it's a steakhouse that happens to put it between two buns.

Probably the best burger & fries I ever had! Tony was awesome as well! Great experience!
Excellent burgers, great service. Chef, very friendly & helpful. More than happy to discuss veggie burger ideas with my daughter.
Definitely going back.
Great menu & wonderful food. The server we had, though, was a thin-skinned fusspot who made it abundantly clear he was the most important person in the establishment & mattered far more than customers.'The music is a bit loud, could you maybe turn it down a bit?' (in an otherwise empty restaurant).'No' (with a smug smile). We found a corner that was outside the trajectory of the pulsating speakers & yelped our order at him over the din.'Could the aioli be in a side dish instead of dollopped on top of the fries?' (After considerable thought)'Yes, I will allow that!'. Welcome to kindergarten! Watching him flutter around was an amusing floorshow, & when the food arrived, we had good reason to ignore him. Delicious, in a great location. To bad the experience wasn't as elevated as the food.
The best burger you can find in Montreal is here! Everything is perfect & absolutely delicious. The ambience is very clean & welcoming. The owner, Peter, who is from Greece, is very friendly & checked on us three times to make sure everything was good. He is truly hospitable. Wishing the best for this restaurant ✌?
A gourmet burger to have a glass of wine with. Good flavours. Fries seemed like they were fried yesterday in bulk, then reheated to serve? That's one way I guess. Personally, I like my fries freshly fried ... & PEI potatoes not the QC sweet type, but that's just personal taste. Belle Province fries reheated in a toaster oven are also pretty good, & that's what these were like. The punchy music & owner's faintly insincere host-with-the-most schtick ... some will love, & others find a bit much. Then with tax & tip, it's nearly $60 for one person, which is a lot. As others have noted, Five Guys is minutes away, less herbs & wine admittedly, but much better fries (IMHO), & great burgers, for 30% less. QDC Burger is worth trying once for sure, if you can afford it. You may love it! It's definitely distinctive & not for everyone. I'll probably go back when I can. Wonderful food & great comfortable service. Highly recommend! Here I am with Peter the owner & my friend Judith. Great burger (steak cut)
If you know food this is the place to visit. We had the 3 steak blend burger & it was an explosion of flavour. The fresh beef, the shiitake mushrooms. Every bite was a taste sensation. The fries were perfect & that rich Demi flavour of the gravy demonstrates the care put in what they do.
The owner is a true host & made our experience above & beyond. My only wish is that I could have this burger in Halifax! Finding places like this is why we love visiting Montreal!
Demitra (server) was funny & amazing... thought if we stayed there longer, wed be going to Greece with her for vacation, (where she vacations). Very endearing. The owner? Or manager? Was friendly & genuine as well. The burger was that'yum' you feel (sometimes out loud) at every bite. But my favorite was the fries. Best I've ever had. I yelled to the owner,'What do you do to make these so good?' He said beef fat. They were amazing... other level good.. I dont give out 5 stars easily. Its reserved for my best ofs group. Voila!

Tried QDC Burger & loved it! The steak frites was perfectly cooked, the Lefty Burger was flavoury packed, & the Steak Cut 3 Blend Burger was super juicy. Service was friendly, & the atmosphere was relaxed but lively-perfect for enjoying a great burger night. Definitely recommend for a place that delivers both quality & taste!

Paired with crispy hand-cut fries or onion rings, & finished off with a milkshake
Stopped in for our last lunch in Montreal. Burger & French dip were delicious. Fries seemed a little undercooked, might just be the Canadian way, but to me felt a bit raw.
Absolutely loved this place! The burger was juicy, packed with flavor, & cooked perfectly. Fresh ingredients, crispy onion rings & fast, friendly service made it even better. If you're craving a killer burger, look no further!
NOT a good burger - was small, dry & mostly bun - took over 30 minutes when I was the only customer there. Fries were ok but they were out of half their beverages. Waitstaff was friendly & smiled at me when I mentioned I didn't like the food. It's a bad sign when it's the only place empty on a Friday night. Charged me for water, not going back. Given the owners response, apparently denial's the replacement for fixing the problem. $34 disappointment - literally go anywhere else.
The burgers were incredible. Cooked perfectly at medium rare & the fries were well done. The service was very good. The only issue was the music. It was very loud as we were eating inside. Besides that the atmosphere was 5/5
The lefty burger was really good. The fries were a tad soggy. The sauce for the fries was really good, though. The Greek guy who was leading service was engaging.
Stopped in for lunch on the last day of our trip here. The burgers, French dip, & short rib poutine were all delicious. Service was quick & friendly. If you don't like it here: you can't fix stupid!
