A long-standing institution that continues to welcome & serve its community with its flavorful, affordable & nutritious vegetarian dishes

The aroma of hundreds of fresh samosas fill the airs of dining room & a window display covered in desserts greet you once stepped through the doors of the restaurant. The food is unpretentious & embodies all that is comfort.

Even after ten years, the food remains just as good & heartwarming as the first time I remember having the pleasure to eat it. The palak paneer is deliciously aromatic & earthy. The baingan bharta is lightly spiced & deeply sweet from the slow-cooked onions. The chapati is crispy on the outside, & wonderfully fluffy & chewy on the inside.

Regardless of what you order, I assure you will be well taken care of. Just be mindful that Pushap accepts cash only.View more

As someone who has reviewed some of the best & expensive Indian restos in MTL, Pushap gets my seal of approval. They have the best samosas on the island imo. They only cost like 8$ for a dozen, totally great price. Everyone knows this place for their samosas. They also have sweets & you can sit at the restaurant & try some indian cuisine. Their food is also really good for the price you pay, which is very cheap for all the food you get. Totally worth eating here, their Thali's & everything is really good. Only downside is the resto size, they need to expand their restaurant, they barely have space for a semi big line. It is not good. Heads up only accept debit &/or cash but if you do on Uber Eats you can pay by credit card too.View more

When it comes to vegetarian Indian pushap is the place to go to. I've been going to since it open , same owner same & 90s place with somewhat of an upgrade. But the food is alway good. One of the best places in Montreal to get samosas & sweets still.View more

I've been coming here for samosas for over a decade & that means something, you can get a dozen at a great price. I recommend going earlier because they run out. The restaurant also offers a variety of delicious dishes & sweets. The place is clean, the staff is friendly, but parking outside is limited.View more

Just wow!! Family owned, & the owner is very nice. He's very helpful & accommodating for changing the combos.
We've had, Vegetable samosa, Aloo tiki, Paneer pokata, Eggplant pokora.
The aloo tiki has a special flavor, hits you with the species on the first bite & then more spices in the after taste but then you love it!View more

The best chana bhatura in town. The dish tastes just like homemade. Also, samosa & pakoras are good here. &, never miss on having tea here. Although, their paranthas could have more filings. Servers are friendly & I never had any service issue here.View more

Low key, service is prompt & efficient but only friendly if they know you. Quick turn around & at lunch you might share a table with strangers. The bathroom, as well as the whole restaurant, really, are sometimes in need of a bit of cleaning.... But the FOOD. My favorite indian place. Its good & its cheap. Most people order the thali plate... Samosas are very good too. & you can be in anf out in 30 mins. Oh & they have a full indian dessert bar....View more

Loved the samosa. The food was good for what it was. A little too spicy on an empty stomach even though I have high spice tolerance. I would prefer more flavour especially if it's vegetarian.View more

There's a user here who said that the Samosas are from Walmart but I've been coming here for 20 years & they are definitely not the Samosas in Walmart are new & this restaurant has been there for over 33 years.. That person must be new here. I love the sweets & the pakoras! The people are friendly tooView more

IMPORTANT: Cash Only Place Once I did not have cash so I did a UBER Pickup but as we all know prices on the UBER menu are always more than actuals. No place in Montreal can beat their Samosa price! Though some people wrote about bad service in the reviews, but for some unknown reason I was always served very nicely here. I tried many dishes here as I live nearby & I am sure you will find Aloo-Gobhi(Potato- Cauliflower), Baigan Bharta(Egg Plant dish) & Daal Maharani(Lentils) as some of the good menu items here. Food items are less spicy so kids can also enjoy. For dessert you should try the "Gajar Ka Halwa"(Carrot Dessert) & the "Laddu"(Flour Dessert) as the best recommendations though all of their desserts & entire Indian Sweets section is just really really good. This place is very busy on weekends so try on weekdays!View more

I ordered samosas, mango lassi, papri chaat, & aloo paratha. The samosas are amazing. The chaat did not come with any toppings or veggies which isn't traditional. I was really disappointed because I was expecting pomegranate or mint or something fresh on top. The mango lassi & aloo paratha are okay but I'd try other items on the menu because it's possible I simply ordered items they're not as strong in.View more

For over 30 year, the Mohan family has been proudly running this vegetarian restaurant / diner style watering hole to perfection. When I was introduced to this restaurant some years back I recall my reaction as "ugh, vegetarian" but I will try anything once. Well, almost two decades later I am still a loyal patron of this fantastic & authentic Indian vegetarian restaurant, where people from all walks of life come to sit & enjoy affordable & delicious food from India. The sole issue with this local has nothing to do with the restaurant, it is with the area it is located in. At one time one could find parking if you drove around long enough, since the redevelopment in the area, both government & developers recreated the streets & such so that there is almost no parking in front nor close by - free or paid. But let me tell you this, it is worth the time & energy to find parking & walk to eat at this restaurant as you will be delighted beyond expectation. Food: fresh, great quality ingredients, beautifully plated in authentic Selection: A wide array of dishes that are sure to please your taste buds including fantastic samosas & onion baji starters as well as Raita & Bathra a fried puffed white pita/bread to die for. Atmosphere: Think of it as an Indian Diner, not a fancy restaurant & the atmosphere is just fine & cozy - not first date cozy (for some), but second date & so forth. The place is kept clean & the washroom as well. Service: As mentioned, this is a family restaurant & their pricing is value based - short for not ripping people off - so, during rush hours such as lunch time, they do get busy & may not have enough people at front of house to satisfy your urgent needs - but be patient, these are beautiful people & they are doing their best to serve their customers as if you were in their own home. So please, if you are in an urgent rush advise the server or front counter in advance & state how much time you have so they can evaluate if they can meet your time line so you enjoy your experience. Pricing: As mentioned, this place is all about providing real value. Their competitive advantage & why people are loyal boils down to great quality, fantastic taste, good portions, & excellent pricing. You are paying for the food not the fancy location, decor, etc. Meal suggestions: Typically most people like to order the meal of the day as it is not only affordable, but it takes the decision making off the list of things to do & lets the chef serve you what is fresh & awesome. It typically comes with a full plate of food including the bread etc. Also indulge in the Dal soup, it is chick pea based & kind of the Indian version of a French Pea soup - without the chunks of smoked ham (lol). If you are a fan of butter chicken, try the SHAHI PANEER. I have also visited the west Island location which is also delicious & does have parking - but it is far to travel & by the time you get there you would have found parking locally... unless you were heading to the west island or in that area. Their local is 4777 Des Sources in Pierrefonds & they have their own website as well.View more

Great Indian restaurant. Authentic & NO FRILLS. Menu is filled with options for vegetarians & meat eaters alike. Chana masala, red bean curry, potato curry were all delicious. The samosa was delicious as well. They served us bottled water as waters. CASH ONLY ESTABLISHMENT. they are accommodating to tourists & accepted USD & gave me change in CAD. The service is as good as authentic places can get. No parking lot. Has to park at nearby street. Don't expect 5 star service, but expect 5 star food with great cheap prices.View more

If you love simple & delicious pure vegetarian food. This is the place to go. I don't even know how many time I've been to this restaurant in the last 5 years. We drive from Ottawa to Montreal sometimes just to have a simple meal at this restaurant. They have a very simple menu which is great. The food is really good. As simple as it can get in a restaurant. It's always fresh. Very simple & with right amount of spices. Their samosas are good too but I really love their thali options. Some people may not find the ambiance that great but I wouldn't complain about it. Finding a parking is a pain in that area though.View more
