« Un pub au bord de la mer » Tandis que nous, A., K. & moi, vos trois mousquetaires gourmands dominicaux savourions jusqu'à la dernière bouchée notre déjeuner anglais, A. m'interrogea sur ce qui, selon moi, « manquait » au moment que nous partagions. En état de relâchement absolu, je ne trouvai rien à redire. Mes deux amies, en revanche, issues de nations au rivage embrassé par l'océan, exprimèrent leur nostalgie de la mer. « Il manque la mer. » Certes, une terrasse avançant dans une berge bercée par le flot des vagues ajouterait un cachet exceptionnel à l'endroit... Mais là, à Montréal, on peut toujours rêver ! À moins que... C'est à ce moment-là qu'une idée saugrenue & probablement irréalisable luisit en mon esprit : & si, en plus de rue piétonne à Montréal, on avait des rues... plages ? Une rue qui s'abaisserait l'été, remplie à la manière d'une piscine & cernée de sable... Ou bien, plus simplement, une piscine démontable au bord de laquelle on peut s'asseoir & tremper les pieds... Rêve toujours. Maintenant, remontons, si vous le consentez, à l'origine de la réflexion de A.. Aussi surprenant que cela puisse paraître, le « steak eggspectations » du Bishop & Bagg, un ravissant oeuf Bénédicte au boeuf grillé, la ramenèrent à ses matins au Madagascar & aux saveurs du premier repas de la journée. Pour parfaire cette réminiscence, elle ne put s'empêcher de soupirer après l'océan. Nul doute que le chaleureux « eggs in purgatory » (saucisse italienne en sauce tomate) & le résolument traditionnel, mais toujours aussi efficace, « Full English » (oeufs, bacon, boudin, saucisse) auront également chez certains un fort pouvoir évocateur, à l'image de la salle à manger du pub anglais. Quoi qu'il en soit, ceux qui, comme moi, ambitionnent tout simplement de se délecter d'un bon repas seront servis. Vous savourerez de généreuses portions de nourriture fraîche & de qualité dans un cadre classique & invitant. Essayez la terrasse sertie de fleurs véritables avant 13 heures, profitant de ce qu'elle se trouve encore à l'ombre. Bien que nous n'ayons éprouvé aucun désagrément, nous aurions préféré un service à table plus obligeant, un service qui ne se contente pas de fournir adéquatement l'essentiel, un service qui s'intéresse à ses convives. En ce qui me concerne, même de brèves interactions cordiales & sincères me permettent de développer un attachement plus profond à un endroit. P.S. Avisez-nous si vous décidez d'aménager une annexe plage à votre terrasse.
I love the vibe at this cozy pub. Each time I go the servers are very friendly. The food is tasty & generous. The gin menu is vast & the gin tasting item on the menu is an affordable & a fun way to explore different gins.

Consistently great. Service is amazing, food is much more varied & interesting than the usual brunch or pub fare & high quality (for years now). Great place to come on a date, with family, or to catch a game or pub quiz. A+

The music was a bit loud to carry on a conversation, though admittedly it was Saturday night, not a Sunday afternoon.
This is a pub I will be recommending for local friends & out of town visitors alike.

This is a wonderful pub to spend the evening - the lighting is great, the food is phenomenal, & any screens for game night are stylishly hidden when not in use. :) I love their burgers & salads, their trivia night is fantastic, & it seems like a fun place to have a small party. They get a bit crowded at night, so I recommend the weekdays or an earlier start if you guaranteed want a good table, & certainly book for trivia!
Had a nice time at Bishop & Bagg yesterday evening. Good athmosphere, great service, & decent food (although not a typical or exceptional pub menu). Good draft selection, including pub's own brand. Will definitely return!
