A spacious restaurant offering authentic Italian flavors in their pizza & pasta. The food was absolutely delicious, & the bread stood out with its traditional Italian style. The ambiance is pleasant, with plenty of room to sit & enjoy your meal comfortably. However, the service could be improved-it was adequate but not particularly welcoming. I was pleasantly surprised. The decor is nothing to write home about but our 2 pastas - bolognese & puttanesca - were both well prepared. The pasta had the texture of fresh pasta & serving sizes were generous. I took a picky teen & this place worked out well because you can customize your pasta & sauce choice.View more

Very strange & uncomfortable resto experience: I was promised an unlimited student plan on a monthly subscription for $150 but after 2 weeks when my classmates & I started coming for lunch they did a bait & switch. Missing ingredients on a daily basis, incorrect billing on my credit card, amongst other violations such as staff smoking cigarettes outside of Palais des Congrais. The popessa franchise has been steadily losing clientele base & closing locations; the one in Montreal set to close shortly. You are better off with the countless other alternatives provided by respectable independant mom & pop pasta cuccinas found everywhere in Montreal.

Loved the way they made pasta in front of us, great menu. However, the tortellini & pesto sauce that I had were quite bland. The garlic bread was excellent though! The prices were fair & the service was good. Not the prettiest place to eat at, but overall good & will go again.View more

Really enjoyed our experience in the restaurant. As a self proclaimed Pasta Expert, it's hard to impress me! The texture of the pasta was just right, al dente. Their bolognese sauce is exquisite & the parmesano on top was great quality. I was pleased with the speed of the service & the very fair price. My wife's Pesto was excellent as well. I know the restaurant is under new management & it's easy to see the love & effort of the ownership as they look to improve the atmosphere & overall experience.View more

Best Italian restaurant in town! Had lunch here for the first time with my boyfriend, & though there were so many options on the menu, we were so hungry so we ordered bolognese pastas directly. The sauce was cooked in special butter first & then well mixed with the pastas. Absolutely flavorful ! Their garlic bread was also great & super tasty, & the owner was kind enough to give us one extra for free :) This place is a great combination of great food, affordable price (they even have monthly unlimited plan) & great service, so I'll definitely visit it more frequently!View more

To illustrate how serious they are about their mission, they have an unlimited meal plan MONTHLY meal plan available for less than what I spend on groceries per WEEK. It's $129.99 for students & $199.99 for adults. With rising food prices, the ubiquitous proliferation of processed food, & busier schedules than ever, we need La Popessa more than ever. To add to all of this, Abrar & Naba are intently making La Popessa the home of a warm & tight-knit community. Awesome joint, the owner is friendly & amicable & ensures everything is made to perfection. On a chat with him, I learnt how he recently purchased the restaurant & wakes up at 6am when stock runs low to specially & specifically make the bolognese sauce himself! A quick serve Italian joint at the heart of a prime location with Old Port to the South & Renee Levesque Blvd to it's North & Complex Desjardins, I can imagine it is a great stop for busy professionals as well as budding students to find a healthy & hearty meal, that can accommodate their busy schedules. Furthermore beyond the amazing food & service (I got the La Mediterranean with Pâte aux Epinards [Spinach]) they have some amazing initiatives such as Unlimited Pasta meal plans (with student pricing options) along with a unique initiative of "Pâte & Parle" every Tuesday at 5:30pm onwards allowing people to practice & up-skill their French language (irrespective of level of knowledge) I urge you to stop by, you won't be disappointed, rather missing out! 😉View more

I recently attended a networking event at La Popessa & had a very positive experience. The restaurant provided a perfect setting for the event, with its elegant & inviting atmosphere. The decor was stylish & elegant, creating a comfortable environment for mingling & conversation. The food was delightful. I had the & it was delicious. The pasta was cooked to perfection, & the sauce had just the right amount of spice. The ingredients were fresh, & the flavors were well-balanced. The presentation of the dishes was also impressive, adding to the overall dining experience. The staff did an excellent job accommodating the guests . They were attentive & professional, ensuring that everyone had what they needed throughout the event. The service was prompt, & the staff was knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful recommendations. One area for improvement would be the acoustics of the space. With a large group, it sometimes became a bit noisy, making it difficult to hear conversations. However, this did not significantly detract from the overall positive experience. Overall, La popessa is a fantastic choice for both dining & hosting events. The combination of great food, attentive service, & a pleasant atmosphere made for an enjoyable evening. THE place for delicious, quick, & flavourful Italian pasta & pizza! The staff are extremely friendly & efficient. I ordered the carbonara pasta, which was cooked in front of me with fresh ingredients, & had to go back for takeout the next day!
