Service is always good despite how busy they are. The food is top notch! I've never made a reservation but usually only 2 people - if you're a group you definitely want to reserve in advance. My only complaint is that the booths are quite small, so if you're more than 2 people seating is tight
I loved my first time trying their breakfast. It was amazing! They might have the best breakfast potatoes in all of Montreal. Such good quality ingredients & flavors, & great price too!
Excellent food taste & portions for breakfast. We were very pleased with the meal itself. The service was prompt & agreable. We were however served lukewarm water to drink when we asked for water, & we were a little disappointed that coffee is not included with breakfasts which are $20+ for most options. We were also seated right infront of a big vent with ice cold AC, which must be nice during summer, but it was on in late October & we spent our entire meal in coats.
I've been hesitant to write this review for a long time, because I really wanted to love this place. I've been going to the Pointe-Claire Deli since before the new owners bought it during Covid, & I was genuinely excited to see it given new life. The decor & vibe inside are lovely… cozy, bright, & full of potential.
That being said, over time the place has become increasingly unwelcoming. The prices have gone up quite a bit, & while I was surprised when they removed the free coffee with breakfast, I shrugged it off. Then the high chairs for kids disappeared, which was explained as a safety issue. Again, not the end of the world. But when I brought a friend with a toddler who had never been before, she was taken aback by the sign in the window saying'loud kids must be escorted out.' I completely understand wanting a peaceful dining environment, but the tone of the message felt unnecessarily harsh. I was embarrassed that I'd recommended the place to her, because it just didn't feel friendly. Still, that wasn't enough to stop me from returning.
Unfortunately, what has finally made me stop going is the attitude & customer service. The younger staff are always kind, polite, & accommodating, truly a pleasure. But whenever the woman I believe to be the owner is working, I instantly regret sitting down. She is consistently curt, avoids eye contact, & gives off the impression that customers are a bother.
To give a few examples: my table of five once asked for ketchup & received one tiny paper - barely bigger than what you'd get at a fast food place. Another time we asked for water for everyone, & only two glasses were brought. On my last visit, there was a piece of paper still attached to the slice of cheese in my burrito. I didn't mention it because she was so unapproachable, but I left it on my plate thinking she might at least acknowledge it when clearing the table… she didn't.
After dozens of visits, I've decided I won't be going back, simply because I don't feel welcome. It's such a shame, because it's one of the only spots in Valois that doesn't have that friendly, neighborhood warmth. When the younger staff are running things, the place feels completely different; relaxed, pleasant, & inviting. They're wonderful & deserve credit. I truly wish them all the best in the future.
Had a fantastic breakfast here in late August. Our family of 5 all had an excellent experience. We all ordered something different & everyone was happy. Great to see a menu that has something for everyone. Great service & fantastic atmosphere. Right down to Bob Ross on the TV. We'll Done!
I went to the Pointe-Claire Deli the other day & had the best sandwich I have ever had in my life. Seriously. It is called the Philly grilled cheese, a scrumptious mix of braised beef, Swiss cheese, peppers (I asked for no green ones), & onions on sourdough bread. There was a sauce too. It was served with the crispiest home-fried potatoes, ever. My friend had an Avo & Pico benedict that she really enjoyed. Service was super friendly. I liked the atmosphere. The place is very clean. The new owners kept the same booth seating as the restaurant had for years, which was comfortable. The music was chill. Overall, a great dining experience. Looking forward to returning soon. Note that the sandwich I ordered is available as part of the lunch menu, which starts at 11.00. Breakfast is served until closing.
My wife & I came to Montreal for the a few days from Toronto, on our way back we decided to stop for breakfast/lunch & I must say we were not disappointed! The food was amazing, the staff were friendly. The only disappointment was not finding this place sooner on our trip. Next time we come back to Montreal we know where to stop!
P.S the smashed potatoes are 10/10!
WOW! Excellent service, unique atmosphere & food is beyond awesome. This place wins the title of the best breakfast potatoes I've ever ate in my entire life!
Enjoyed the'Lumber jack breakfast' a very filling 2 eggs with a pancake, syrop & really great potatoes, & tasty toast.
I cannot say enough about this place. If you know it, you know it. The food never disappoints. It has THE BEST fried chicken, the most amazing'smashed potatoes' & Sebastian is always there, keeping the place groovy. They always play the best tunes, & the décor is reminiscent of a classic Seattle-like spot. It's my first choice for breakfast & lunch on the West Island, hands down. I'm grateful that we have this kind of gourmet gem here. Thanks to the owner for keeping it real!
Great experience & great food. I can't believe I've been living in the West Island since 1977 & it's the first time I go! First off as being Vegan & have to drive 45-1 hour to Montreal to get half a portion & tasteless Tofu scramble is over effective today.
Great portions not cheap at all!
Great service & staff always smiling !
My friends that had the lumberjack breakfast could even finish it & I had a challenge to finish my tofu scramble.
Btw they serve breakfast all day from 9-3.
Looking forward to Sunday, can't wait!
