Review Summary

Plâts De Pates Hong Mère is widely regarded as a destination for authentic Northeastern Chinese cuisine, frequently praised for its generous portions, flavorful dishes, and reasonable prices. Many patrons highlight specific favorites like the Japanese tofu with eggplant, spicy fish broth, and peanut butter dumplings, often describing the cooking as a comforting and impressive culinary experience. While the restaurant receives significant acclaim for its menu quality and friendly, family-owned atmosphere, some reviewers note inconsistencies regarding service speed, occasional issues with bill accuracy, and varying levels of saltiness or grease in certain preparations. Additionally, while most diners enjoy the food, opinions on the interior lighting and climate control remain mixed, making it a popular choice for takeout even among those who find the dining room environment less ideal.

Très bon. Bonnes portions.
apportez votre vin.
Bravo , on y parle français !

Fantastic food at reasonable prices in a simple setting. This place never disappoints. Try the stir-fried cabbage!

I've ordered from them 3x now & I'm always left satisfied. My favorites are the Japanese tofu with eggplant, so frickin good & comforting! The shrimp & egg fried rice is also so very delicious!

Update (20260321): Quality seems to have dropped IMO. All three of my dishes came & were subpar, boring & a disapointment. Friends. I sent to the restaurant had a similar reaction too. Which is too bad. Used to be my fav pace. Dropping from a 4 star to a 3 star. :/

Oh Hong Mere, where have you been... & why did it take so long for us to meet...erm... yeah, stick to a review.. ok, GTC (yeah, you know what I mean) is not too saucy, crispy & just daaaamn good. The veg menu has MANY nice options rather than just the filler classics. Some spicy fish soup? Yup. They got that too. I ordered delivery & my order came in good time & was nice & hot. No complaints really. Will for sure order from here when I need me some GTC loving. The restaurant has been fully renovated & looks amazing! Love it!

The flavour actually quite impressive 😊very authentic Chinese dishes but also accommodating to some local palate 😌
Ordered the braised pork with quill egg + spicy cabbage, very satisfied with the taste
Would probably come back & try some more dishes 😌

Food was very good, it was just unfortunate that the serving of said food ruined the entire experience. We were a group of 6, we all ordered wonton soups which came together then when it came time to the main meal, 3 plates arrived while 3 other plates only arrived 30 minutes later. It appears as though once we notified the staff we were missing food is when they started making it. On top of that, one of the missing plates was rice that was supposed to go with a plate of meat which came early. When we asked for perhaps complimentary wonton soups ($3.75) due to the poor service, they declined & said that is simply how they operate; the chef waits for orders of a certain dish to come in so they can make it in bulk. So general Tao came first because a lot of people ordered it, but pad Thai came 30 minutes later because we had to wait for more tables to order it? In writing this review I'm becoming more frustrated that I'm lowering the rating because that is simply not how you run a restaurant.
