Review Summary

Overall, reviewers describe Pizzeria Zac as a beloved vegan friendly spot with a thin, crisp crust, creative sauces, and a wide range of vegan options that appeal to both vegans and non vegans. The pizzas are praised for flavor, freshness, and toppings, with favorites like the Mile End, Aphrodite, and Bloom often highlighted, and calzones and garlic knots noted as must-try items. Many mention that the vegan cheese is surprisingly cheesy and satisfying, making it possible to enjoy classic pizza experiences without dairy. The place is described as cozy and welcoming, with friendly staff and a lively vibe, and while seating can be limited, takeout and delivery keep it accessible. Some reviews mention strong value for money and portions, though a few note price increases over time. Overall, Pizzeria Zac is regarded as among the best vegan or plant based pizza options in Montreal, delivering consistent quality, great flavors, and a dedicated following.

It is the best vegan pizza I've tasted for sure. The flavors & crust were nice. However, be warned that this pizza is more of a snack than a meal. It's quite small & thin with not many substantial toppings that would keep you full. You'll definitely need to either order 2 small pizzas or eat something afterwards since you'll still be hungry.

Might be the best pizza crust in Montreal.

A must try if you're in the Plateau & prefer a lighter pizza.

Their garlic knots are also a must try.

Perfect spot if you can't eat dairy but still want to indulge.

Been wanting to try Chez Zac Pizzeria for over a year & glad I finally did. It's hands down one of the best pizza spots in Montreal! The crust was thin & crispy, just the way I like it, & every bite had that perfect crunch. The toppings were incredibly fresh & full of flavor, making each bite absolutely delicious. It's rare to find any pizza done this well. Can't wait to go back!

The pizza is unreal. I've had good thin crust like that before, never in Montreal. They know what they're doing. Any pizza you order with nuts or pesto on it will feel like a one way ticket to Planet Miam. We love it & we love it!

Amazing Vegan Pizza -
But Montreal Needs a New York Style Option!

I've visited New York many times & have had some of the best vegan pizza there, & as a Montrealer & vegan, I can confidently say that Pizzeria Zac is the best vegan pizza in Montreal. Your flavors are incredible, & it's amazing to have a dedicated vegan pizzeria in the city ..seriously, thank you for what you're doing!

That said, I do wish there was an option for thicker, more filling New York-style pies. Your pizzas are delicious, but the thin crust means I often have to order multiple pies just to feel full. In New York, a couple of big, hearty slices from places like Screamers in Brooklyn are enough to satisfy - it's the crust that makes the difference.

I'd love to see Pizzeria Zac offer:
-A thicker New York-style crust option
-Sizes like small, medium, & large
-The ability to buy by the slice, like in classic New York pizza joints

Your calzones, especially the Beyond Calzone, are incredible & super filling - this shows that a heartier option works perfectly with your menu. I really believe you could be the first place in Montreal to nail New York- style vegan pizza, & it would be huge for the city.

Again, this is just a suggestion - you're already doing an amazing job, & I'm so grateful to have a spot like yours in Montreal. I hope you'll consider this idea because it could take your pizza game to the next level!

God bless, & keep up the fantastic work!

Absolutely happy finding a vegan pizza spot in Montreal! The flavours are mind-blowing! This is how you do vegan food.

For 2 people we tried the le mile end, pesto vegane & roxanne in petite. Shared one lemonade. The crust was thin & rightly between crispy & soft. The chilli oil was to die for.

We were lucky to get parking as it was a weekday. Weekends, it is hopeless!

Staff were very friendly & warm.

Recommend:10/10

After being denied every vegan restaurant up & down Saint Denis (no reservations), we decided to go a little off the beaten path & try this cute little hole-in-the-wall pizzaria. & we're so glad we did! Both of our pizzas were piping hot from the oven, flavorful, & topped with fresh ingredients that complemented their thin-crust base. The menu is categorized by red sauce, pesto, & white sauce. You can go pure veggie with the Casanova - red sauce, veggies,'cheese', topped with fresh arugula (roquette), or do their version of a veggie'meat lovers', or order the spicy'Diablo' pizza ...if you dare. :-D. The menu is extensive enough to please most palates, without being overwhelming. The seating is basically two picnic tables, but it was very spacious for my partner & me & two other separate diners. They seem to mostly do take out orders, so the demand for sit down space isn't so intense. They have a fun mural on one of the walls featuring Lisa Simpson - also the name of one of their pizzas. When we were there, a lively selection of classic blues music was playing. The service was very friendly & helpful. They do not have a liquor license, but they do have a decent selection of soft drinks, but more options might be nice. Anyway, show this place some love & either order a small, personal-sized pizza or a large size pizza for two. Support the cruelty-free, plant-based movement, & support a small business.

The best vegan pizza in Montreal! Stopped in after a long walk & the lunch rush, it was the perfect cozy place.

Ate a slice of the pepperoni pizza while waiting for my order & it was divine. The slice was large, the crust thing & amount of melted cheese was perfect.

Then my order arrived a few minutes later & the smell was enough to take me back to an Italian villa. Le Mile End is the perfect balance of red sauce, pesto, cheese, rosted garlic & pine nuts lightly covered with spinach. For fun I added mushrooms & my brain felt like it was exploding with all the rich flavors.

My husband had an Old School Calzone & said he would have another if there was space in the tummy left.

We loved it & will return!

Friendly staff. Zac did the catering at a wedding. Amazing thin-crust pizza! You wouldn't guess that the pizza is vegan.

A small & cozy restaurant! The mile end pizza & mac n cheese with mushrooms were both amazing! Perfect crust & cheesiness. The place only had a fan but the door was open to help with a breeze so it wasn't a big deal. Please open a location in Toronto!!!!!!

If you a vegan & a pizza lover, you're in luck with this pizzeria. Their El Diablo vegan pizza pact a punch yet a flavorful combination with the flaky thin crust. Mike plays great records & such a welcoming vibe he brings; if you're happen to be in Montreal celebrating amongst friends & family, this is the place for you. Highly recommend! 10 out of 10.

My BF scoffs at vegan food... until now. He was clueless his meat-obsessed taste buds were absorbing plants. & now, his whole world (& tongue) has turned upside down. Also gotta add that I loved that the place was playing vinyl, had Simpson's art on the wall ("Lisa needs braces!"), & the dude working there was a unicorn-please be my friend! You don't make friends with salad but here, you actually do! Pizza crust was delicious & Krusty 😉.

Delicious Vegan Pizza! They seem to really understand the importance of moderation when it comes to vegan cheese, which can take over & leave a bad texture when not kept in check. They make up for the lack of real cheese by loading their pizzas with delicious toppings & sauces. That's doing vegan pizza right, in my opinion. To be honest, the dough was the part I was most worried about from previous pictures. It looked too thin & crispy around the crust for my liking, where I like to see a nice Neapolitan bubble on my thin crust. I'm happy to say, however, that they absolutely nailed it & I wouldn't change it. It's a delicious mix of crispy & soft. I had the Mile End, & would highly recommend it as a starting point. I can guarantee that I'll be back to try the other pizzas. $13 for an individual (which was enough for a good lunch), is more than reasonable with the price of everything these days.

Excellent thin-crust vegan pizza, for a great price. Personal size pizzas (10-inch) are only 13$ during their lunch special! I had the Bloom Pizza, which came with a white sauce topped with onions, mushrooms, basil, chili flakes, & a vegan "honey" drizzle made by the local brand Bloom. It was delicious; the presentation, flavors, & textures were great. Indoor seating is quite limited (only 2 tables), & it can get quite busy at times, so it's probably more suited for take-out. However, I still enjoyed my experience dining in. I'd definitely love to come back to try their other pizzas!

ZACS PIZZA ... I had maybe walked by this place a thousand times before going in. I hadn't even occured that vegan pizza could be good. & now, I maybe eat at zacs 3 times a week. The first time i tried it, it was so gooey, salty & savoury, but with enough crisp in the crust to keep me coming back. I was in shock, in awe. The taste of this pizza, defied all logic. I said how can vegan pizza taste this good? It's better than most non-vegan pizza that i've tried. The food not-withstanding, they have a beautiful artistic practice of drawing on every single box. The atmosphere is very quaint, with records being played all throughout the day. I Can't illustrate how much difference between records & a spotify playlist makes. Finally, last but not least, the manager mike is so thoughtful. It's clear that he goes out his way to make to the customers experience delightful. His attention to detail, warmth, & caring attitude make zacs pizza a hidden gem of Montreal. I would recommend zacs to anyone, vegan or not, who are interested in having an authentic Montreal experience

Best pizza I've had in a long time. Really beautiful flavours, the perfect crispy crust, plus they do a calzone which is so fresh & decadent. The only slight downside was that it was such a tiny restaurant with only two tables so we had people hovering over us waiting for us to finish by the end which was a bit nerve-wracking. The service was lovely & fast & friendly though. I cannot stress enough how good this pizza was.
