Le Piranha Bar est un dive bar du centre-ville de Montréal sur la rue Saint Catherine, connu pour son ambiance metal, punk et goth et pour une clientèle locale et touristique. Il accueille des concerts, du karaoké le mercredi et d'autres spectacles, et le son est correct pour la taille du lieu avec une terrasse agréable en été. Les boissons sont à bon prix et il est possible d apporter sa nourriture puisqu aucune cuisine n est disponible dorénavant. Le personnel est souvent décrit comme sympathique et accueillant, et l ambiance conviviale attire une clientèle fidèle et diversifiée. Le lieu propose aussi des machines à sous et des tables de billard; la salle du bas pour les spectacles est parfois mal configurée et trop chaude, tandis que le bar du haut est plus agréable. La sécurité fait parfois partie des remarques, notamment en ce qui concerne le harcèlement et venir en groupe ou renforcer la présence des agents est suggéré. C est l un des rares endroits à Montréal pour ceux qui aiment le metal, le punk et le goth, avec une énergie palpable, une grande terrasse et des shows qui attirent habitants et visiteurs.
Came here for a Mayday hip hop concert. FYI there is 3 levels at this establishment. The basement level were I mistakenly went first was jammed packed & was rocking pretty awesome was not my final destination. Main level is the bar/pub & upstairs was where I was supposed to be. I did visit the main floor bar & the staff was very nice, wasn't too busy. This review is mainly for the upstairs venue. Poor signage to say the least if you walk up off the street at least. The upstairs was small, sound was good right at the stage but anything further back was way way too loud. The performers had issues with the venues wireless mics so one had to stay mostly stationary with the wired mic. Green room was tiny but added to the charm. Stage was pretty small & there is a large concrete beam almost forehead level on stage with lights that went directly into the performers eyes. I had a great time. Drinks were reasonable. Got to seey favorite band so no real complaints from me. Would love to see them in the downstairs spot in the future.
Been in Montreal 3 days...been here 4 times. A home away from home. Great jukebox selection, decent beer, met 2 different dogs (doesn't get much better than stroking dogs in a bar) & the staff are exactly like every server we've come across in Metal bars around the world - friendly & approachable. We've had the best time in Piranha Bar, highly recommended.
It's Piranha bar, man. The new haven for rockers & metalheads since Fouf's sold out. You've got all the usual potables, several floors, 2 reserved usually for events like local shows, & all in all, it's a fine place to sleaze out with your rocker buddies.
J'ai été un samedi & l'équipe du soir (les deux filles) ont été très gentilles. Très bon service ça m'a donné envie d'y retourner & d'être un habitué. Bravo au barmaid
AMAZING PLACE! Chloe/Eliane/Jess are the nicest Bartenders ever. Like actually they are. No exaggerations. Everytime I go they make me feel welcome because they r excited to see me ahaha they make me feel at home & chit chat with me. Best bartenders ever.

I went to Piranha Bar last saturday night (29/06/2024) & had a really fun time with my friend. I was served by Cole who had a perfect service & friendly attitude towards me & my friend. I really liked the renovation of the place & the new setup in place; shows are also always of good quality in the scene downstairs. Generally a 5/5 experience, greatly recommend the place! 😼🤟
The Piranha Bar is probably one of my favorite places to go in Montreal. I'm still not 100% sure what their schedule is for metal/alternative karaoke, but it's like the most incredible thing ever. Their drinks are poured well & their bartenders are incredibly efficient, knowledgeable, & tolerant. Piranha tanks, decorative bathrooms, slot machines, heavy handed drinks, & loud music- what more could you ask for? 10/10
We liked the bar, the staff was very friendly. We visited this bar because the reviews said it was a metal bar, however, there was unfortunately only very little heavy metal music played the night we were there.
