We were very lucky to get two seats at the bar right after walking in, because the wait time is usually pretty long, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation beforehand. Normally I don't like sitting at the bar, but it actually turned out to be a great experience & we had the waiter's attention the whole time.
The ambiance & decor are very cozy & quite different from the usual brunch spots in town.
The menu is also unique & not your typical brunch menu, so you might want some recommendations from the waiter depending on your taste. I was looking for something sweet & sour, so I ordered the POLLITO & WAFFLES, & it was really delicious. The chicken was crispy, served with tasty veggies & sauce over the waffle. The portions were also generous & very filling.
Also, the menu on Google Maps seems to be outdated.
For coffee, I ordered the CAFE DE LA OLLA. It tasted really good, although it was a bit too sweet for my taste.
My friend ordered TESORO ESCONDIDO for drink & TOSTADA DEL PACIFICO, a toasted brioche with shrimp salad, which was really tasty.
Pier Canela has inventive, flavorful, & colorful dishes, & the French toast was delicious. The restaurant is nicely decorated, but I'd suggest sitting in the front area by the bar with natural light; the rear section is dark with deep wall colors that make it feel a bit heavy. Service needs a brush up. Our bartender was friendly but very slow, & the bread meant to accompany the huevos rancheros arrived 10 minutes after our plates, when we were practically done with the dish. Maybe sitting at a table instead of the bar would bring better service, though I'm not sure. Solid food, drinks, & atmosphere, but the pacing of service kept it at 3 stars.

If you're looking for a cozy brunch spot in Montreal with amazing food, friendly service, & reasonable prices, this is an absolute must-visit. We had an 11:30 AM booking on a Saturday, & were blown away by the entire experience!
The Vibe & Service:
From the moment I walked in, I loved the interior-the decoration, the way the tables are set, & the cozy bar. Every small detail is so well thought out. The restaurant is spotless, & the atmosphere is super warm & welcoming. The staff were so friendly & attentive, consistently checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed.
The Food:
We shared three dishes & everything was 10/10 with amazing flavors:
• Tostada Del Pacifico: A total highlight! Grilled artisanal bread with avocado mousse, sesame sautéed shrimp, & a perfect poached egg. The radish & arugula salad gave it such a nice crunch.
• Dulce Abuelita: A crispy churro ring topped with Abuelita chocolate mousse & spiced pear. It's honestly what dreams are made of.
• La Doradita: This panko-crusted brioche French toast is elite. The coffee-chocolate sauce & horchata cream are so unique & comforting.
To Drink:
Don't skip the Mojiposa cocktail! It's a vibrant mix of rum, blueberry, & maple that is as delicious as it looks.
I was suggest to book ahead! It's a popular spot & fills up fast on weekends. 10/10 experience, I'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!
Great spot. Definitely not your typical, boring brunch. The drink variety is a huge plus. My shakshuka was solid, & honestly, everything else looked just as good. Excellent service. I'll be back for sure.
The service was great, & the waitress was very nice. I had the shakshouka, & I found it a bit average - it needed more flavor, & the eggs were overcooked. However, the bread was good, & I would recommend any of their signature drinks; they were excellent!
The food was so good & authentic! we tried papas benditas & it was perfect, so we went after for something sweet with le pain doré, I loved the pineapple & passion fruit flavour on it! For drinks, pizco de coco with horchata was perfectly balanced, the abrazado dulce is very light I was expecting a stronger flavor but I guess with the touch or Oreo was ok. Nice atmosphere & good service!

The food & drinks were very good. The only issue is that they rush you to finish & leave. We arrived at 12:45, & by around 2:00 pm we were already being shown the door. We also noticed a strong urine smell in the bathroom. It wasn't dirty, but the smell was quite unpleasant.
… no. honestly, yeah the presentation is super aesthetically pleasing & i suppose'instagramable' < hate that phrase but the food itself? could barely stomach it. it could be that the cuisine doesn't agree with me. i personally ordered the shakshouka & my god, it was stuffed with onions to an excessive amount. like it should've been called onion stew. the flavors were way too strong, like they wanted to do too much all at once. the drink was nauseatingly sweet (a coconut blend) & what my friends ordered was also tooth rotting sweet.
the service was quite nice & the ambience was… okay? however i would not be coming back. you'd have to pay me at least $300 to come back here. even then i wouldn't touch the food esp considering how much we paid.
The service was very good & the ambiance too, however the food wasn't bad yet nothing special, yes, the ideas are there but the taste is forgettable. The best was Carlota's cemita bread, I never thought I was going to find that out of Puebla, MX... the inside of the'cemita quebecoise' was just ok. The drinks are way better than the boring food. Being an association with'Barranco' I thought the food was going to be better, I wouldn't go back not because the place is bad yet there is nothing special about it either, c'est moyen.
Absolutely loved this place! The staff is amazing, & the food was so yummy & comforting. If I could recommend one food item, I would recommend the chilaquiles, & for a coffee order, I would recommend the latte that comes with the mexican spices (& bonus tip- replace the regular milk with coconut milk).
It is definitely on the pricier end, the drinks were 8$ & the food was 25-26$, but I think it was worth it, considering the quality/taste of the food, the good customer service & the great vibe (loved the spanish music they had on, & the decor)!
I'm definitely going back again! :)

The food is great. I loved the Mexican fusion idea. My issue was with the staff, they were extremely rude & pretty much kicked us out even though we had a reservation, nobody was coming in & there were plenty empty tables. The waitress also removed several of our plates & cups when we were actively eating or drinking from them. Honestly this was unacceptable, I completely understand the concept of leaving when there is a line waiting but this was completely uncalled for. We also stayed there for a bit over an hour so it is not like we were camping there either. For the price I would expect a way better service. Anyhow, first time & last time for sure
The best food I've had in Montreal in a very long time!!!!
Piel Canela's dishes are so creative & bursting with flavour. To eat, we tried Las Papas Benditas & the Pain Doré des Tropiques, both of which were sensational both in taste & presentation. For drinks, we had the Batido Horchata & the Pizca de Coco, which were generous in size for the price!
Besides the meal itself, the space was beautifully decorated, the music was nice but not too loud, & the servers were all so friendly & welcoming!
Piel Canela is not cheap, but I cannot recommend it enough for the occasional treat. Truly one of the best spots in Montreal!
Great service & very fun staff! Food was amazing & the drinks too. Emma & Ana (the bartenders) were so sweet to my friend & I when we came in for brunch, would definitely eat here again!
The food was great! We loved the hot drinks with the cold weather outside, we wanted caffeine free & they delivered. The pistachio drink was amazing. Also loved the food & presentation. The flavors were very developed. Our server was also very kind despite being busy & pulled in various directions. Only complaint would be a bit slower service than expected. I would recommend & return!
