About

Phoenix Oriental offers a diverse culinary experience that centers on authentic Szechuan preparations and classic Chinese staples alongside a dedicated sushi menu. The kitchen utilizes bold, numbing spices and aromatics characteristic of regional Chinese cooking to craft complex flavor profiles in each signature dish. Fresh seafood is precision-sliced and presented as intricate rolls, demonstrating a commitment to traditional Japanese preparation methods. The dining environment maintains a functional and straightforward design, prioritizing speed and consistency for patrons seeking substantial portions of both wok-fired specialties and raw fish. Every plate highlights a balance of texture, incorporating crisp vegetables with tender proteins or vinegared rice. This establishment serves as a hub for those prioritizing flavor-forward dishes in a practical setting, ensuring that high-heat stir-fries and chilled sushi selections are executed with technical accuracy and efficiency.

Review Summary

Phoenix Oriental offers a mixed experience where many diners praise the delicious and flavorful food, particularly the sesame beef, fried rice, and handmade wontons. While many visitors report excellent, friendly service and generous portion sizes, others express frustration regarding disorganized service during all-you-can-eat sessions, confusion over billing, and inconsistent quality in some dishes such as rubbery meat or undercooked sushi rice. Although the interior decor is considered dated, the restaurant remains a popular local spot for many who appreciate the value, variety, and overall taste despite some concerns about mandatory gratuities and operational clarity.

The fried rice was perfectly seasoned, the fried chicken was crispy & flavorful, & the portion sizes were impressively generous. A great value overall.

This is the absolute last time I order from this place! I ordered General Tao chicken & Chicken Fried rice but got''Dried Tao chicken'' &''Crunchy onion rice'' instead.
The General Tao was so dry! There wasn't even a drop of that sauce to put on the rice.
& the rice was full of half cooked onion that crunch in your mouth! & you need a microscope to find any chicken!
Never been so disappointed in food that should be easy but not at this place & definitely not at that price!
Huge disappointment!!

Had the chicken noodle soup at lunchtime. Servers were very nice & warned about over-salting the soup with soy sauce because it was'already seasoned'. They were right, this was very savoury on its own.

Good deal, & it has that vibe of going to dim sum as a kid in the 80s.

I ordered a few dishes using Uber eats tonight. I really loved the Shanghai noodles, beef sautéed with snow peas & the general tao chicken, I must say their general Tao is much better than some other places that have too much batter on the chicken, this one is a perfect ratio & very flavourful. The spring rolls are were also good.

Ok food. Some dishes were better than others. The peanut butter dumplings were too commercial tasting. Overly sweet no spice tastes liked jarred sauce. The general tau was decent but the Thai chicken was not edible. Thai rice had peas which is odd as I never saw peas in Asian rice. The waitress did not seem knowledgeable about the menu.

I've ate & done take-out from this restaurant numerous times. Being a huge sushi lover, I must say theirs is ok but nothing special. Their Asian food on the other hand is really really good. Excellent crispy sesame beef & general Tao chicken. Also love their noodles. The staff is great!
