Review Summary

Reviewers describe Pho Nguyen as a cozy, small, unpretentious spot offering generous portions and consistently flavorful pho and vermicelli dishes at good prices, with many calling it the best pho in Montreal or among the top in Canada and the US. The broth is frequently praised for depth and warmth, though a few tasters note it can be slightly sweeter or less soulful depending on the batch. Service is commonly described as friendly and fast, with staff accommodating dietary needs and order changes without fuss. The atmosphere and location feel tucked away yet convenient for takeout or dine in, adding to a sense of a hidden gem. Some critiques appear, such as concerns about serving hot soup in plastic bowls, occasional blandness in certain meat dishes, or a less robust broth on some visits. Overall the consensus points to good value, reliable flavor, and a place that regulars are eager to return to and recommend.

One of the best Vietnamese places I've been to downtown Montreal. Ordered some Pho, grilled chicken & spring rolls, everything was so fresh & tasted amazing. The service was extremely fast, was in & out in 5 minutes & their prices are extremely competitive. Definitely recommend this place if you want good comforting traditional Vietnamese dishes

Pleasantly surprised. As mentioned in other reviews prices are extremely hard to beat. For those with electric vehicles down the street below St Catherine's there are 4 level 2 chargers so you can charge your car while enjoying this restaurant for 1 dollar an hour charge rate. Hostess & staff are friendly. Lots of students here but I cannot blame them because the price is the best bang for the buck. I took an extra large number 5 with one imperial roll. Next time I will take 2 rolls as they were very good. All prices on the menu are tax in. So basically cheaper than the other Vietnamese restaurants I've reviewed. Now that I've read other reviews of this restaurant & have been I'd tm rather come here than the other locations I've reviewed in Brossard.

THE BEST/MOST AUTHENTIC PHO IN MONTREAL!!!!!!
Super tasty pho broth, shrimp vermicelle so fresh, even fried chicken wings taste so good. I've been to so many Vietnamese restaurants & I always come back. Also very affordable price, such amazing place.

This place is overrated. The broth is overly sweet, & the flavor of the Vietnamese pho has been too heavily adjusted to suit Montreal tastes. That said, the ingredients were fresh, but it's still hard to give it a high rating.

First time ever trying Vietnamese food & it did not disappoint! The portions are very big i got a small pho & was not able to finish it! The food was not overly salty & tasted really fresh & the price was worth the quantity! Food also came very fast & workers were nice! 10/10 would recommend

The school is near here. I often pass by it after school. Today, my mother & I specially found this Vietnamese pho restaurant in a friend's recommendation. It tastes very good! The main thing is that the meat & soup are very fresh & cost-effective! The portion is also very large. Basically, if you are not particularly hungry, just start a large portion. In addition, you can also try coconut juice!

This a real hidden montreal jem. A true Vietnamese joint with original flavors. It is small, just enough room to feel cozy. We had the Pho, which was super, you can choose the meat you like & the size. The spicy noodles soup is very good & very spicy! Tried also the grilled beef with rice, which was good. You can skip the vegetarian roll - it didn't feel fresh. Spring roll was nice but not a must. They do not serve alcohol.

My fav Vietnamese spot! I always get their glass noodles with BBQ pork. The perfect sweet, salty, sour, savoury comfort meal with unbeatable prices & no nonsense service. Portions are generous. It looks hole in the wall but it's a hidden gem. I highly recommend!!

Absolutely delighted with the BEST service & exquisite Vietnamese cuisine in North America & Montreal! My husband & I, travelers from afar, indulged in two impeccable grill plates (chicken, beef, & pork) along with divine soups. The soups were a culinary masterpiece, packed with exquisite flavors, high-quality ingredients, & a perfect blend of beef & noodles - the best Tonkinese soup ever experienced. The grill plates left us enamored, with pork so succulent & bursting with flavor that it surpassed expectations. The chicken & beef were equally delightful - premium quality meats that pleased the palate. Anticipating our return, we plan to introduce friends & family from out of town to this unparalleled Vietnamese gem. It's the go-to place for all your Vietnamese cravings. No second thoughts, just GO! The service is lightning-fast, & the aroma of the mouthwatering food greeted us from down the road where we parked. A flawless 10/10 experience - highly recommended!🍲🍜😍🤤🍱

A good spot for Vietnamese food in downtown! This neighborhood gem has been around for quite some time, & they've recently renovated the place. It's now brand new & very clean, with an improved seating layout. The Pho is good, & their Bun Bo Hue has an interesting fusion twist but still tastes great. Don't miss their Bun Thit Nuong – it's good, too. Despite the current inflation, the prices remain reasonable, & the portions are still quite generous. They have Vegetarian options. Price included taxes.
