About

Pho Mai serves traditional Vietnamese cuisine centered on authentic noodle soups and fragrant rice dishes. The kitchen emphasizes clear, slow-simmered bone broths seasoned with star anise, cinnamon, and fresh herbs to create depth of flavor. Guests select from a variety of protein options including thinly sliced beef, savory meatballs, and tender poultry prepared to order. Crunchy bean sprouts, basil leaves, and lime wedges accompany the bowls to allow for personalized flavor adjustments. The establishment maintains a casual atmosphere designed for efficient service and functional dining. Each plate reflects consistent preparation methods that highlight the foundational ingredients of Southeast Asian culinary traditions. The menu provides a reliable selection of staple dishes that emphasize temperature, texture, and aromatic balance in every serving for those seeking classic comfort food.

Review Summary

Pho Mai is widely recognized as a top-tier destination for authentic Vietnamese cuisine in Montreal, particularly celebrated for its high-quality pho, flavorful soups, and generous portions. Guests frequently highlight the welcoming family-owned atmosphere, friendly and efficient service, and the wide variety of menu offerings such as bun bo hue and pad thai. While parking can occasionally be a challenge, the consistent food quality and reasonable pricing make it a favorite for many local regulars and visitors alike, though some diners have occasionally noted concerns regarding recent changes in meat portions and pricing.

One of the best vietnamese restaurants in Montreal. Our server, Jenny, was such a delight. Will come back.

Authentic pho, the best to my Vietnamese taste ( I used to like Pho Bang New York, but no more) & other Vietnamese dishes, portions are generous, a family business without pretention, they keep it simple & friendly. Good service & clean establishment, hope they stay the same for years to come.

For the last three visits, I noticed that the amount of meat in the Tonkin soup is reduced, & today they jack the price up to $16, I'm fine with the new price, everything has gone up, but cutting on the meat. I think it's time to find another restaurant!

Ordered Bun Bo Hue & grilled beef spring roll & this place might be my new number 1 spot : For the price, the portion is generous & taste is great, not to mention the soup is fresh : it is not greasy or the overnight taste compare to some places. The beef spring roll is almost perfect : they put a large piece of meat but they also put coriander in their spring rolls. I do eat coriander & I am not one of those who dislike coriander but, them inside a grill beef spring roll, not a great mix : the taste of coriander plus mint creates a weird taste that overpower everything else so, it tastes rather bitter & you cannot taste anything else inside the roll. Other than the small quirt, this place is going to be one of my go-to Vietnamese restaurant. But again, take out the coriander from your spring rolls : really not a good idea to put them with peppermint leaves

First time trying out this vietnamese restaurant. They have a parking so it's convenient if you're by car. The foods were ok in my opinions but the portions a little bit small. Although , when asking for an extra it's provided very fast. Overall it was a great experience with the family , they have classics music which blend in with the place itself . I'll probably try another plate next time we go.

Today is not the first time me & my friends eat at this restaurant
Actually, the first few times I visited, I didn't have a lot of good impressions (The service team is not welcoming)
However, the times I come back later, they welcome us more cheerfully, more warmly & serve us better.
& this is why I give this restaurant 5 stars today
I want to add that the food that I & my friends like the most is the...
Bamboo duck vermicelli soup
This is a traditional Vietnamese soup (northern)
Everyone come to try it
