The pork & chicken souvlaki sticks were decent, but the sides were quite dull, literally a whole crown of broccoli. They came with a basic salad, & there was an extra charge to upgrade to a Greek salad, which felt odd for a Greek restaurant.
I don't know where to start so let's enter inside first ..
The first encouter you get will most likely set the tone for the rest & the manager at the door did just that. A zombie that looked at me top to bottom like i didn't belong there.
Philinos gives you a sense of high end, higher standard type of greek restaurant but its not..
I payed 39$ for a small bowl of rubber fried calamari
17$ for a bland grec salad (again another small bowl), 68$ for 2 pieces of 5cm lamb & half inch chicken filets (at least that was good)
36$ for 3 Baklava cheesecake.
Side note** we celebrated 3 birthdays at once. None even one of the cheescake was gifted.
I got robbed. The waiteress was very good but left alone on a crowded restaurant. All that to get the payment terminal ripped from my hands & vanishing without saying anything. Philinos was based on someone's recommandation while any other greek restaurant would've done better.
My family was deeply disspapointed. Manager should greet, make sure she's properly staffed & to stop robbing people. We're no fools
I will never go back nor recommend this place.
For quick, well-executed Greek food, this is the place. This was probably the juiciest, most succulent pork souvlaki I've ever had. The pork was tastier & juicier than the chicken. Honourable mention to the fresh, delicious, tangy roasted potatoes. However, the decor & ambiance needs work - it's tacky, cold & thoughtless which was disappointing.
Group of 19 among many large groups. The server was overwhelmed & it reflected in the service we got. I ordered chicken souvlaki that was a little over cooked. Warm bread was served but had to ask for butter & then 10 minutes brought oil for the bread. Had to ask 3 times for water refill. No one walked around refilling water. Had a $12 very small piece of cheesecake with coffee. Asked for a coffee refill but never got it. Took the server about three tries to give the proper bills to me & the people near me. Do not know if they were short staff, but I really did not enjoy the night out. We were there at 630, a very busy time as all the tables were full but they were very fast & efficient in setting up the tables for the next party.
Great service by John. We had the'mezzedakia' plate. It's a meat platter with grilled classics like chicken breast, pork, loukaniko (greek sausage). & lamb chops. We added a salad & a saganaki appetizer. Very good. Efagaristo!
EDIT: Since I can't seem to reply to response. Even the response makes no sense. Doesn't change the fact that your policy of charging full price for a 6 year old child on a group menu exists at no other restaurant, & you were advised there was 1 child, if we had said he was 5 he was free, we were honest & said his real age 6 were prepared to pay a fee, & were charged full price which is unheard of for 6 year olds. We did not expect him to be served a kids meal, but if you read the review I said if you want to charge full price you should at least bring a meal appealing to the child. Great foot regardless of how we were treated!
FYI on Philinos Laval we went for a party of about 30 people 80$ a person. The food was great will start off by saying. However there was 1 child 6 year old & they tried to charge us 80$ for him. He had a slice of bread & butter & 2 strips of a chicken breast off a shared platter. For that price u better bring a specific plate for a child with a kids meal of fries or something. I understand paying for a child np but full adult price & bring nothing to appeal to a child seems like a money grab. Lady just kept repeating that’s their policy over five years old
Full price. We didn’t mind paying a child fee that’s why we didn’t say he was 5 like most people would have. I have never heard of such a thing & have planned many parties at very nice places. We finished off agreeing to 40$ but was such a turn off!!!! I have the receipts if anyone wants to dispute this. I’d be happy to post.
Overall the food was good. I enjoyed note the main plates. Lamb chops were amazing as usual, & the grilled chicken as well. Everything grilled is amazing. As for the appetizers they lacked seasoning rather bland. Saganki was excellent . Should be more seasoning on the salad the bread the eggplant zucchini chips …needs more seasoning !! As for everything else was excellent lol i will come back & have saganki & lamb chops with fries ! 😉
