Unfortunately, our experience was really bad. I usually follow ratings & reviews through Google Maps. Once I saw the 4.8 rating for this restaurant, I immediately went there with my family, only to find really low-quality food (like reheated food) & terrible service (he took our order after 25 minutes of waiting). We asked for two small glasses of beer, & he brought two big ones. We asked for lasagna, & after 15 minutes he said there wasn't any more lasagna. Immediately, I thought: Which Italian restaurant doesn't have lasagna? Only ones that previously bought frozen lasagna instead of preparing it from scratch. That is my impression of this'Italian restaurant.'
Waited 45 mins for arancini that was beautifully presented but still cold in the middle, mozarella was still in one piece & also cold. We then waited another 40-45 minutes for chicken parmigiana & pesto spaghetti. Mind you, people around us came & went, other tables were served from entree to dessert, paid & left & we were still hanging around waiting for our food.

Arancini, as mentioned above, was cold in the middle, but nice & crunchy on the outside.
The portion is pasta with the chicken parmigiana was less than 100g of spaghetti (literally like 12 strands, cracked in half) with a'pesto' that tasted only of butter with no actual flavour. Chicken was delicious though

All in all we were here for around 2 hours while other patrons came in, ordered some of the same dishes as us were served & gone in half the time.
Although the waiter was friendly, the food tasted good but it wasn't fresh, either frozen food or old ingredients, disappointing, oily & the fish tasted old & had a smell, it was an expensive dish , thinking with these prices the food should come fresh.
Arrived in Montréal, looking for a nice place to eat. Happened upon Osteria Schiavio in the Marriot hotel. What a gem. We sat at the bar & ordered pizza to go. So delicious. The draft beer was very good. When the pizza arrived, the aroma was out of the world, couldn't wait to get back to the hotel! Sheldon at the bar was entertaining. He was busy making different cocktails but had time to tell explain the ingredients. Heading back for a sit down dinner!

J'étais au Palais des congrès vendredi soir (13 mars) & j'ai cherché un restaurant italien à proximité. Avec une note de 4,8 étoiles, j'y allais avec confiance.
Malheureusement, ce n'était visiblement pas le meilleur soir pour ce restaurant.
Il semblait manquer de personnel & notre serveuse était probablement nouvelle, ce qui a rendu le service un peu chaotique. Par exemple, nous avons reçu notre entrée avant même d'avoir nos verres.
Nous avons commencé avec des arancini. Ils étaient corrects au goût, mais malheureusement servis froids.
Pour le repas principal, nous avons pris une pizza & des cavalletti. Encore une fois, les plats n'étaient pas mauvais, mais ils sont arrivés froids.
Bref, l'expérience était loin de ce à quoi je m'attendais en voyant la note de 4,8 étoiles. J'espère simplement que c'était un soir exceptionnel, car le potentiel semble être là.
A true hidden gem that delivers on every level-flavour, service, & atmosphere. Tucked slightly off the main path, this spot is well worth seeking out.
Service was standout: Sheldon managed the room seamlessly as a one-man host, bartender, & server, all while remaining attentive & welcoming. The food arrived at a comfortable pace & exceeded expectations. The penne featured a vibrant basil flavour with a perfectly crisp, gratinéed cheese topping. The meat lasagna was exceptional-rich, well-balanced, & cooked al dente (easily one of the best we've had). Even the burger, though slightly small, was prepared exactly to preference, & the fries were outstanding.
The space is stylish yet relaxed, with thoughtful details like linen tablecloths & a cohesive, modern aesthetic. Pricing is very reasonable for a downtown location near Old Montreal.
A small note for improvement: the washroom setup could be refined, as it felt a bit cramped & was missing soap during our visit.
Overall, an easy recommendation for anyone looking for high-quality food & genuine service in a comfortable, unpretentious setting.

My husband & I went to this Italian restaurant after ice skating on Valentine's Day, & it was such a great choice! The waitress was polite & very helpful.
We ordered a Margherita pizza - super simple, but extremely delicious. We also had the penne alla vodka pasta, & it was sooo good!
For dessert, we chose tiramisu, which was absolutely beyond amazing, & a pistachio cannoli. Everything tasted fresh & perfectly made.
Schiavio is a nice restaurant located at 1000 De La Gauchetière. So far, the pesto pasta with chicken (Milano style) is owkey. The pistachio ice cream is very good. The sandwiches & pizza are fairly ordinary, but overall the experience is decent. The prices are reasonable considering the location.
Absolutely outstanding! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. The atmosphere was warm & inviting, with authentic Italian charm. Every dish was a delight fresh, beautifully presented, & bursting with flavor. The staff was attentive & knowledgeable. We can't wait to come back!
