Wow - who thought that Montreal would have amazing & cheap Korean food? It's hidden inside the basement of an apartment building too. The pork bone soup was cheap & very filling / flavorful. Service was excellent as well. Huge portions for the price. Highly recommend.
Opiano is a cozy Korean restaurant right next to McGill University & it's perfect for students to grab lunch after class. 🍲 It offers authentic & tasty Korean dishes at a very reasonable price, making it a go-to spot for both quick meals & casual hangouts.
In the summer, they serve bingsu (shaved ice dessert), & I have to say the milk flavor is the richest & creamiest you can find in Montreal. 🧊🥛 Absolutely delicious! Strongly recommended for anyone looking for great Korean food near campus. 🌟
Very good food & relatively affordable. Take the pork bone soup at your risk & peril, it's one of the best choices to make, but can be messy to eat. Still recommend it. Wear a bib.

Needed a quick lunch near campus & a friend recommended this Korean restaurant. Having lived in Seoul, I can say the bibimbap really hit the spot! The portions are generous for the price, & it even comes with a miso soup. The ordering system is super efficient, you order on a digital screen, & about 10 minutes later your name is called to pick up your food. Everything was fresh, fast, & tasty. I've already been back to try their soup, & it was just as delicious. Definitely a new go-to spot!
Opiano is a good , economic Korean restaurant perfect for a work/between class/ or after school meal.
1. Good price.
I have ordered pork bone soup & kimbap with beef , with tax 33$. & these were shared with my friend.
2. Good taste
The pork bone soup is very tasty.
It is DIY style & food court atmosphere. I highly recommend
They have bingsoo as well.will definitely try that in Summer 🌞!
15-Aug-2024 Came back & they are newly renovated! You now order on a touchscreen & when the food is ready they call your number. Food is as delicious as always! The moochim mandu, pork bone stew, bulgogi, jeyuk & bingsoo are stellar & at such an affordable price. Wish they were also open on weekend. ----------- So I'm writing this review based off my dozens of visits to opiano. This place was my go to place as a student (& still come as a non student) because of the delicious Korean food, the quick service & the friendly staff. It's a order at the counter type of place where you order & then they give you a number. They display your number on this digital clock looking thing & once your food is ready, you pick it out at the front. The owner was always so friendly to us! I used to come here for their AMAZING red bean bingsu but now they don't seem to be selling it anymore. I also LOVE their tteokbokki, Pork bone soup, tofu stew & spicy pork plate. This place will always have a soft spot in my heart, so highly recommend.
So authentic Korean restaurant. You ordered all the meal from the machine & no tips added since all self service like how you order at McDonald which is so convenient for those who work in downtown & tourists. The whole ordering process is high tech & time saving. We ordered pork bone soup which is a must try here! Best ever. Also the tofu soup with seafood was sooo good. These two come with rice. I hope I could stay in Montreal couple more days & visit here everyday. The customer service is so friendly, they are humble & polite. Highly recommend! It could be a good stop after hiking the Mount Royal.
