Review Summary

Opiano is widely regarded as a popular and affordable destination near the university campus, known for serving generous portions of authentic Korean comfort food. Visitors frequently praise the efficiency of the self service ordering system and the quick service speed, making it an ideal spot for students and locals alike. While many patrons highlight the pork bone soup, chicken katsu, and bingsu as standout menu items, opinions on flavor consistency and dessert pricing are mixed. The casual, basement level setting offers a cozy atmosphere, though the space can become quite crowded and noisy during peak hours. Overall, it is considered a high value establishment that provides a satisfying and budget friendly dining experience despite occasional inconsistencies in dish complexity.

Wow - who thought that Montreal would have amazing & cheap Korean food? It's hidden inside the basement of an apartment building too. The pork bone soup was cheap & very filling / flavorful. Service was excellent as well. Huge portions for the price. Highly recommend.

Really loved their pork bone soup. With just rice it gets pretty filling . 😋

That matcha shaved ice cream fell short however as I felt they shaved it too thin to the point that I could barely taste the ice cream.

Also they charge u for take out bags...

Pretty decent food. The pork bone soup is amazing, while I found the rest of the savoury dishes to be bland. Portion wise, you get your money worth. Bingsu dessert was also impeccable.

I ordered the army stew & a salad. I put two stars because I was expecting more flavor & more tofu in the soup. Also, the noodles are the cheap ones from instant ramen packs & the soup consisted mostly of them. I knew that when ordered that dish I would get spam, but I wasn't expecting it to be so insipid & flavorless.

I added a star because the dressing for the salad, yet why do u call a salad a bunch of lettuce together?

The prices are decent, yet I was expecting better quality.

Always loved getting takeout of their pork bone soup! It was my go-to comfort food. Sad to see them off UberEats, not sure if the shop closed down?

Very good food & relatively affordable. Take the pork bone soup at your risk & peril, it's one of the best choices to make, but can be messy to eat. Still recommend it. Wear a bib.

Needed a quick lunch near campus & a friend recommended this Korean restaurant. Having lived in Seoul, I can say the bibimbap really hit the spot! The portions are generous for the price, & it even comes with a miso soup. The ordering system is super efficient, you order on a digital screen, & about 10 minutes later your name is called to pick up your food. Everything was fresh, fast, & tasty. I've already been back to try their soup, & it was just as delicious. Definitely a new go-to spot!

15-Aug-2024 Came back & they are newly renovated! You now order on a touchscreen & when the food is ready they call your number. Food is as delicious as always! The moochim mandu, pork bone stew, bulgogi, jeyuk & bingsoo are stellar & at such an affordable price. Wish they were also open on weekend. ----------- So I'm writing this review based off my dozens of visits to opiano. This place was my go to place as a student (& still come as a non student) because of the delicious Korean food, the quick service & the friendly staff. It's a order at the counter type of place where you order & then they give you a number. They display your number on this digital clock looking thing & once your food is ready, you pick it out at the front. The owner was always so friendly to us! I used to come here for their AMAZING red bean bingsu but now they don't seem to be selling it anymore. I also LOVE their tteokbokki, Pork bone soup, tofu stew & spicy pork plate. This place will always have a soft spot in my heart, so highly recommend.
