Afficher toutfries(15) shrimp(10) fish & chips(8) recommend(8) fresh(7) crispy(7) seafood(6) quality(5) style(4) sauce(4) classic(4) tasty(4)I had the fish & chips. The fries were frozen potatoes & not very good. The fish was good but there was only 1 piece for $20. I won't be ordering again.
Best fish & chips I've had in Montreal, definitely London-style. People are sleeping on this place - it should have a line out the door. UPDATE 05/26: fish sandwiches & burgers added to the menu. Still as good as eve
If I had made this review a year ago I would have given it 5 stars, but I just went here recently for some takeout & it was awful.
I ordered the one piece of cod & a side of fried pickles. I brought my food home only to find that my fish & chips didn't come with any chips?? Okay, I thought, I have the fried pickles to make up for the lack of fries. I was presented with the thinnest, saddest, slices of pickle that I don't think had seen a shred of dill in its entire life. I'm not sure what kind of pickles they used but they were salty as heck & not a trace of dill to be found.
What you see on my plate is what I paid $30 for.
I don't I'll be ordering from here anymore.
The taste the crispness was outstanding & perfect, I order shrimp & fish & chips.
Shrimp was fresh, delicious & by far the best shrimp I ever tasted & I loved it.
It came from some one who never order shrimps
I got this for delivery, to be honest the chips were good & the fish was cooked well, however it was all a bit dry. There was inconsistencies on how much lemon & tartare sauce was provided based on the portion size.
I went to this place last night. From the very beginning, my visit was a disaster. I had some questions about the fish & chips & received rude comments in return. Okay, let's try the food. The lady told me there was garlic in my choice of fish, could have fooled me. ALL of the condiments were clearly bought from a grocery store. You're telling me it's too expensive to buy ketchup or vinegar bottles? How about making the tartare sauce in house instead of being lazy?
The fish was cooked properly, thank God. The fries were the most egregious part of this whole experience though. I understand that many places in Canada opt to do smaller fries over chips, in my opinion that is fine. However, even from the pictures you can clearly tell that these fries were also store bought McCain fries. That means FROZEN FRIES. Seriously? I literally couldn't finish the fries cause it started tasting like sawdust. This whole experience was a disgrace to my culture, I'm embarrassed that the people here think this is acceptable, or even good.
First time going here & I had food poisoning from the fish & chips, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
EDIT: REPLY TO OWNER BELOW:
A food allergy DOES NOT cause vomiting & diarrhea, the restaurant is disgusting inside & the fish was not fresh. Not to mention to mention the food prep line looked dirty & the coleslaw was sitting next to the raw fish. I contracted a serious stomach bacteria & suffered for months afterwards all from the fish & chips here, this place needs to be shutdown by MAPAQ.
best fish & chips I've had so far. so light & crispy. the fries were perfectly crunchy too. we got the classic but I will definitely come back for the curry. great service as well.
deserves more hype!!!!
Awesome fish & chips place, *used to be* my favorite in Montreal!
Update: Used to have much better chips/fries, but they've changed to a more basic pub-style thin style french fry, & unfortunately I liked the old thicker fries much more. Still good fish, just not very good chips now. :(
