About

OFISH MTL specializes in coastal-inspired seafood preparations that focus on the natural integrity of fresh marine ingredients. The menu centers on expertly seared fish fillets, crispy calamari, and substantial seafood-centric sandwiches that emphasize bold, clean flavors. Beyond the nautical offerings, the kitchen crafts hearty burgers that incorporate premium ground proteins paired with carefully selected gourmet toppings. Each dish reflects a commitment to simplicity by highlighting quality sourcing and precise preparation techniques. Patrons encounter a focused, streamlined menu designed to deliver consistent results in a functional and straightforward environment. Review Summary

OFISH MTL is frequently praised for serving high quality, crispy, and authentic London style fish and chips, with many patrons highlighting the freshness of the seafood and the generous portions. While the overall dining experience is often described as cozy and welcoming, there are mixed reviews regarding the side dishes, specifically noting inconsistencies in fry quality and seasoning. Despite some feedback about slow service and occasional flavor imbalances in accompaniments, the majority of visitors consider the restaurant an underrated gem that offers a consistently delicious and fresh menu.

Best fish & chips I've had in Montreal, definitely London-style. People are sleeping on this place - it should have a line out the door. UPDATE 05/26: fish sandwiches & burgers added to the menu. Still as good as eve

Awesome fish & chips place, *used to be* my favorite in Montreal!

Update: Used to have much better chips/fries, but they've changed to a more basic pub-style thin style french fry, & unfortunately I liked the old thicker fries much more. Still good fish, just not very good chips now. :(

Update 2024-02-27: Rating lowered from 5 to 3. There seems to be a quality control problem at this restaurant. The portion sizes vary greatly - sometimes the large fish'n' chips is good for two people, other times it's barely enough for one. Sometimes the french fries are British-style chips, other times they are darker, oilier Belgian fries. Sometimes the cod is cod, & other times it's mystery fish. I'm sad. Original review from 2023: We ordered a shrimp po'boy & a classic fish'n'chips. Both were deliciously crispy with tangy flavourful sauces. The fries are thick cut with a salty-sweet flavour. The coleslaw is also sweet & vinegary. The sandwich bread is a soft baguette with a light crispy crust (just like in New Orleans!). I'm excited to explore the menu further.
