I went to this place last night. From the very beginning, my visit was a disaster. I had some questions about the fish & chips & received rude comments in return. Okay, let's try the food. The lady told me there was garlic in my choice of fish, could have fooled me. ALL of the condiments were clearly bought from a grocery store. You're telling me it's too expensive to buy ketchup or vinegar bottles? How about making the tartare sauce in house instead of being lazy?
The fish was cooked properly, thank God. The fries were the most egregious part of this whole experience though. I understand that many places in Canada opt to do smaller fries over chips, in my opinion that is fine. However, even from the pictures you can clearly tell that these fries were also store bought McCain fries. That means FROZEN FRIES. Seriously? I literally couldn't finish the fries cause it started tasting like sawdust. This whole experience was a disgrace to my culture, I'm embarrassed that the people here think this is acceptable, or even good.
Edit 3 , everytime i order food because it's been that long , the food gets worst . Just have to admit it's not what it used to be . Barely any sauce on burnt shrimps , more breading than fish on cod bites . Just a joke now .
Edit 2 , tried again , fish & chip 2 for 1 on Uber eats , dry fish , small fries & not the fries steak . Will no longer order here .
Edit : used to love this place , but recently, the last 4 times that we got food from them , there is a very apparent inconsistent & gap in quality compared to before .
Amazing gem of a place . The food is always fresh & great tasting . As someone who works in the restaurant business , i always take a glance at their fryers everytime i go to order , A++ for hygiene .

best fish & chips I've had so far. so light & crispy. the fries were perfectly crunchy too. we got the classic but I will definitely come back for the curry. great service as well.

I had a wonderful experience at ofish. The atmosphere was cozy & clean, the staff was friendly & welcoming, & the food was absolutely fantastic. I ordered the fish burger putting, & it was full of flavor & beautifully presented. Everything tasted fresh & authentic. I'll definitely be coming back & recommending this place to friends & family.
Awesome fish & chips place, *used to be* my favorite in Montreal!
Update: Used to have much better chips/fries, but they've changed to a more basic pub-style thin style french fry, & unfortunately I liked the old thicker fries much more. Still good fish, just not very good chips now. :(

I don't really understand how the reviews are as high as they are here. The fries were extremely oily & not really edible. The tuna Po'boy is canned tuna on baguette. For $20, the panko fried fish portions are very small & the fish was tough. Coleslaw was bland, not well dressed & wasn't fresh. Really disappointing!
I had an amazing dining experience at Ofish! The fish was incredibly fresh, cooked to perfection, & bursting with flavor. Their menu offers a great variety, & every dish we tried was a delight. The staff were friendly & attentive, creating a warm & welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're a seafood lover or just looking for a great meal, I highly recommend Ofish. I'll definitely be back for more!
OFISH has been a go to treat on special occasions for my family even though service is odd - the wait staff don't seem to be super engaged or to understand French or English very well. All of that was ok until today, when we noticed that the fish portion is tiny compared to what is was, & the chips, which used to be the fat English variety, have turned into string cut fries that look like they're from the freezer. Two portions of battered fish came to about $40 & looked like this:
I came for fish n chips. First time I actually see this place was a week ago despite being here from 5 years. It didn't disappoint Great blues music, keep that going guys Good portion, crispy fries, good fish. I recommend .
Ordered on Uber Eats & it was really delicious. I took a Crispy Shrimp Po'boy & the shrimp was fresh & crispy, the bread was delicious & the sauce really complimented it well. The fries were amazing as well, I just wish I got some sauce on the side for them. Definitely recommend this place!

Update 2024-02-27: Rating lowered from 5 to 3. There seems to be a quality control problem at this restaurant. The portion sizes vary greatly - sometimes the large fish'n' chips is good for two people, other times it's barely enough for one. Sometimes the french fries are British-style chips, other times they are darker, oilier Belgian fries. Sometimes the cod is cod, & other times it's mystery fish. I'm sad. Original review from 2023: We ordered a shrimp po'boy & a classic fish'n'chips. Both were deliciously crispy with tangy flavourful sauces. The fries are thick cut with a salty-sweet flavour. The coleslaw is also sweet & vinegary. The sandwich bread is a soft baguette with a light crispy crust (just like in New Orleans!). I'm excited to explore the menu further.
I took the crispy shrimp po'boy & I wanna say that the food was great, with fresh ingredients; I think it was a great portion of food. But I do think the fries were a lil bit too salty & that maybe if the shrimp were more tasty (I am talking about seasoning) this can be a 11/10 sandwich!
Had tried the fish & chips at other restaurants in Montreal & found them too salty for me to finish or enjoyed it. Thought of giving it a last try & wasn’t disappointed with what I got. I tried the Caribbean fish & chips & found the batter to be tasty & not as salty as I thought. Great portion of fish & fries & the price was decent for the portion I got. Would definitely come back again😎
