This restaurant offers tapas in a fantastic fusion of Peruvian & Japanese cuisine, along with a delightful selection of cocktails.
We tried serveral small dishes & we particularly enjoyed the incredible mix of flavors of the Lomito Saltado. We also loved the attention to detail, like the adorable origami crane pinned to the Sakaya cocktail we ordered-it was not only a charming touch but also delicious!
For dessert, we had the'Suspiro Nikkei,' & it was nothing short of a revelation. The creative combination of dulce de leche & miso flavors wowed us.
The lively decor enhanced our experience, creating a vibrant atmosphere that was both inviting & fun. Furthermore, The service was friendly & efficient.View more
The word that describes it: incredible! We loved the experience, the food was perfectly balanced, you could feel the explosion of flavors in your mouth, the service was too good, the drinks incredible, unique cocktails & if you are like me & cannot tolerate the exaggerated amounts of sugar they use in Canada for desserts, I promise you will not regret it. Their desserts were perfectly balanced, I loved them! Unfortunately, I don't have many photos of the dishes since I was so focused on eating that I forgot!View more
Just had an absolutely impeccable meal here. Beautifully decorated, open kitchen tapas restaurant, we had 8 dishes & they were all delicious. Service can be optimized but the food is truly the star of the show here. Will absolutely return!View more
Food was okay, pricey. 5 dishes & two glasses of wine for 120$. Me & my girlfriend didn't like much of anything & we aren't usually difficult.View more
Me & my girlfriend tried this restaurant, & we really enjoyed it. It's a small, cozy place with good service & tasty food. In my opinion, it's a bit pricey, but I'm not familiar with tapas places-we paid $200 including tax & tip. We shared five dishes & had two cocktails. I didn't like one of the cocktails, but they were happy to switch it for a beer with no issues. The service was great; they even explained some of the dishes, which was really cool.View more
A hidden gem in Montreal worth discovering. Beautifully created dishes inspired from Peruvian & Japanese cuisine. Unique dishes, great vibes, friendly service.View more
My friends & I wanted to try a new tapas place & saw this one had some good ratings. I must say price is Very HIGH for what it is & the food isn't that good. It's quite salty & some weird mix that needs to be worked on. I liked maybe 2 out of the 8 dishes & I am someone who likes pretty much everything in food. Drinks were fine, they tasted quite good & service was very good. Our waitress was great, attentive & nice. The atmosphere & ambiance were great too, good lighting, very clean, & nice decorations.View more
I visited this Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant about three weeks ago & tried their "MTL à Table" discovery menu. The food was excellent-beautifully presented & full of flavor-but it is definitely on the pricier side compared to similar restaurants in Montreal offering comparable dishes. While I'd recommend it to friends for the unique fusion experience & quality of the food, I'm unsure if I'd return myself, considering the cost. It's worth a visit if you're looking to try something special & don't mind the splurge!View more
The fusion between Japanese & Peruvian food was ok, it lacked seasoning, flavor. The dishes either were too sour or felt too spicy & the desserts felt store bought just so sweet. The cocktails did not have the right balance felt too sweet & the other one was watered down as there was too much ice. The service was slow at the beginning it felt that the kitchen staff & servers were a little overwhelmed, they were however very nice & apologetic. Towards the end it felt rushed with our two hour time limit & as they reminded us again even though we had not even had the dessert course. I would not recommend for an intimate date night however could be good for groups as you would have more time to eat & share multiple dishes.View more
This restaurant was a great surprise! With a Japanese-Peruvian fusion speciality dishes, you can taste different flavors from tiradito & ceviche to curry. The drinks were also very good & the ambiance was perfect. The restaurant is a bit pricey, but the quality of the food compensate! Update: I just tried the special menu Mtl à table & it was delicious!View more
Amazing food, amazing environment, Beyonce was amazing 💖 we were a big group she recommended us really good dishes & drnks based in our taste, THAT GIRL DESERVES A RAISE (also the bartender was super nice)View more
The food was ok, but nothing to make an impression or recommend/come back. The meat skewers were super salty, barely could feel another flavor. Drinks also took quite a while, & there was a huge delay between dishes to the point we thought they didn't put the order in. the restaurant it's quite pretentious, which wouldn't be bad on itself, but definitely do not recommend at this price tag. there are many restaurants with far better food & drinks, & even for less than half the priceView more
I found this restaurant from an Instagram blogger when we visited Montreal. I cannot say enough about how incredible the food is - absolutely delicious! But Estelle is the best! She seated us & she was our waitress. The menu was in French so she chose our five dishes & we loved every single bite.View more
We tried this place for the first time & thought it'd be as good as Barranco (same owner) but we were greatly disappointed. We tried one of the ceviches which came with rice & found it wasn't going well altogether, & the portion was half of Barranco. The scallop in curry sauce was just ok, scallops weren't big considering the price. The lomo saltado meat was very tender, but sadly both latter dishes were served merely warm. They also don't have yuca fries on the menu which is a must for a Peruvian restaurant. Drinks are highly priced like other fancy restaurants. The service is however good & it's the reason it earns a better rating.View more
Almost dishes are salty, the rest just ok. Come at monday night, not full even half, but resto is too hot.View more
We had a wonderful experience at Nikkei & will definitely return. We told our waiter, Felix, that we wanted him to choose the most popular & best tasting dishes for us. We have no allergeries or dietary restrictions! Our meal consisted mostly of fish & seafood with the excepion of the Nigiri de Res which was sublime! The area is very quaint, & we were fortunate to avoid the rain by opting to dine outside on the terrace. (Tiradito Kyuri, Bento causa, Bacalao al vapor, Curry de Hotate, with Pisco Sour & Ginger Maracuya Sour cocktails & cold sake with our meal)View more
We went for dinner for my boyfriend's birthday & we had a great time!! The vibes were great, & the staff was very nice. We got the Yuzu Margarita & the Noche Netsu for cocktails, both really good! We ordered 6 dishes for 2, everything was delicious but my favorites were the Nigiri de Res, the Nigiri de Unagi & the tuna tartare. They even gave us a dessert on the house for my boyfriend's birthday! Will definitely be going back!View more
Emma was our waitress today & she was fabulouuuuus! I let her pick our dishes for the night as we had no idea what to get & she really knows her stuff! I recommend the "ask Emma" option when you stop by hahaView more
Nikkei was very good! Great cocktail & mocktail menu & lots of well thought out dishes. Would definitely recommend the res nigiri, chirashi, & the tiradito with hamachi. The service was also good, but there was a lull between dishes. It was also very noisy. Still worth a visit for sure.View more
Innovative dishes. Fresh ingredients. Great drinks!!View more
We loved the food & cocktails. What we didn't appreciate is that when we showed up the first thing that was mentioned is that we only had the table for 2 hours ( there was no mention of this at time of reservation)...quite a letdown in terms of feeling welcomed. So as amazing as the food was, the tempo was too quick between dishes & then dessert. We felt rushed throughout the mealView more
Charming Peruvian-Japanese fusion restaurant. Each of the dishes we ordered was delicious & at the same time, being fusion, allowed us to explore new flavors. We went at noon which allowed us to enjoy the restaurant at our leisure, chat & enjoy at our own pace. The service was good & on par with the food. I look forward to come backView more
Amazing Place with Excellent Service & Majestic DishesView more
Excellent service, food is amazing. Surprising dishes & wonderful cocktails !
A bit pricy but portions are quite good !
I loved it !
Dinner was perfect. Amazing cocktails, I had the Cuban lost in Tokyo- it was amazing. Dishes were superb. Service top notch. Highly recommend
The fish dishes were really good, however service was very uneven (waited 20 minutes for our bill) & the other dishes simply tasted of Todarashi. The decor is nice but the crowd is just instagram white girls being loud & obnoxious at most tables.
Amazing experience for date night at Nikkei & my first time at this venue. The space is beautiful, with a warm ambiance & great Latin music. My boyfriend & I came to try the tasting menu for the Chochin Matsuri October Event. All six services were deliciously pleasant to the palette, & my favorite dishes were the sushi & curry scallops! I would like to add that we sat at the kitchen bar, & we were perfectly hosted by one of their new Chefs, Leo, who walked us through each course & happily answered my questions as he prepared them. He had the friendliest vibe & recommended my now favorite cocktail, the Dark Feeling. Thank you, Leo, & the staff for a wonderful night!
Our server was amazing. Food was super fresh. Wish there was a bit more variety though. Dishes were very similar., but very good. Would definitely go back. Great selection of wines & cocktails & cocktails
Thank u for a lovely evening
Simply incredible. My mom & I devoured 5 fabulous dish. First the Tron Shi-To de res, a beautiful fusion dish. Then came the tiradito Nikkei & causitas, both delicately scrumptious. But the tour de force was by far the last two dishes: Sopa Sepia & Ribu Arequipeño. The Sopa was rich & hearty, great udon & squid. My favorite was the ribs. Also, rich but not too dense sauce, perfectly spiced. We came quite hungry so maybe 5 dishes might be a bit much for a regular couple. Oh & the cocktails were killer too.
Nikkei means fusion, & they sure delivered. This food makes me proud of being Peruvian.
