Firstly, the lady working here was really nice & provided quick service. The taste of the onigiris were ok, but the value was lacking. Each onigiri was quite pricey (between 6-7$ each, & was mostly filled with rice & very little of everything else. I was very excited for the ebi tempura onigiri, but it only turned out to be one ebi tempura on top & the rest was just rice. The salmon onigiri was disappointing as it was just cooked, shredded salmon & quite plain (again, mostly rice). The tuna was the best. It was cooked tuna similar to canned tuna, but more innovative & had a great sauce. I didn't get to try the drinks but they looked very interesting. As much as I love supporting local businesses, I hope they would consider adding more filling inside the onigiri.

As someone with Japanese heritage, eating this onigiri brought tears to my eyes. The taste was so familiar & comforting, reminding me of cherished memories & authentic flavors from my childhood. Yet at the same time, it had something special all its own.

The rice was perfectly prepared, the filling was delicious, & every bite reflected the care & quality that went into making it. Simple, authentic, & incredibly satisfying. This was one of the best onigiri experiences I've had outside of Japan.

What made the experience even more special was the thoughtful service. I mentioned that I was hoping for some hot green tea, & she kindly offered to warm up a bottled green tea for me. It turned out to be the perfect accompaniment to my meal & was exactly what I was looking for. That small gesture made me feel genuinely cared for & added to the warmth of the entire experience.

Absolutely delicious food, wonderful hospitality, & an experience I won't forget. I cannot wait to come back.

It's a ✨?MUST GO SPOT✨?
Been going there several times since summer 2024! I love the little decorations they've put onto their shop! One of my to-go spot to eat at before going to work! Whenever I'm craving of authentic onigiri, this is the place I go at whenever I'm in the area 😋🍙 My favorite onigiri is their limited time fresh lobster 'homard' 🦞 & you can't find it anywhere else in Montreal that's for sure 🙈

Excellent service, family business place (husband & wife), portion ratio between the rice & filling is perfect to me ! I always order 1 to 4 onigiris since it's not too heavy meal for me 🍙🍙🍙🍙 Desserts & drinks there are always so deliciousss but always forgot to take pictures of it I tend to eat it like immediately & realize it after I ate it The owners are friendly & always answer to all my questions / it's always fun chatting with them 🥰

I'm thrilled to see a opening onigiri shop, we have to support small business , bring your friends & family to try some unique onigiri flavors 🫶

Looking forward to taste their futur creations 🥰

One might not expect to find an authentic Japanese Izakaya / onigiri shop in the Jean-Talon Market, yet interestingly, this is their second season doing business at the popular open air market. Undoubtedly, worth stopping by to try their creations; especially things like their fresh cracker lobster & the newest menu item a snow crab onigiri - with its touch of mayo & black pepper. This rare specialty has just the right balance of oceanic essence, culinary delicacy & subtle seafood texture.

Good news, they now have an alcohol license & this flavour combination married well with their draft lager - a hint of rice wine at the offset.

Finishing off with a local strawberry mochi dessert is always in order or perhaps their onigiri of the week which happened to be made with ample fresh asparagus - if you like savoury desserts.

Kudos to their hard working team serving the hungry yet happy & upbeat market crowd.

Arigato Baptiste & team!

Super cute & tasty Japanese food stall! This quiet little booth can easily get lost in the chaos of the Jean-Talon Market, but it's a wonderful little hidden gem. The owner is incredibly sweet, & they have a lovely variety of onigiri & dango. I got their découverte combo, which comes with 2 onigiri & 1 dango mochi. I settled on the ajitama (soft boiled egg) & salmon, both of which were delightful - the salmon was super tender & had just a touch of Japanese mayo, which helped to make it even more moist while adding a hint of sweetness, acidity, & salt. The ajitama had a gorgeous jammy yolk & packed a huge punch of umami flavor. Both had a solid ratio of filling to rice, & it was quite a flavorful, filling $15 portion, but not so filling that it would prevent you from trying other things in the market. My only potential critique is that the soy sauce glaze they use on top is quite salty; it's delicious, but it makes the first bite extremely salty & the rest of the onigiri a tiny bit bland.

The dango was also delicious - super fresh, chewy, springy mochi with a lovely earthiness from the mugwort. I loved the red bean, & it was a delightful sweet treat to round out the combo.
