Reviews describe Muru Crêpe as a charming Totoro themed café in Old Montreal with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that suits families and travelers alike. Crepes are praised for being light, golden, and slightly crisp at the edges, with standout options like the crème brûlée crepe and matcha tiramisu crepe, alongside a wide range of sweet and savory choices. Latte art and visually striking drinks, including rose latte and hojicha and matcha beverages, appear frequently in praise along with strong coffee and tea. The decor is repeatedly noted as adorable and Instagram ready, perfectly matching the Studio Ghibli Totoro theme. Service is described as friendly and efficient, though the small space can lead to wait times and occasional slower pacing when busy. Some reviews mention prices as a bit high for portions, but many feel the quality, atmosphere, and experience justify the cost. Fans of the theme often call it a must visit and say they would return for the charming environment and tasty crepes.
We came here for breakfast as a group & had an absolutely horrible experience with one of the staff members. From the moment we sat down, he was slamming food onto our table, wearing earphones, & made no effort to engage or provide decent service. He was visibly annoyed by our presence from the start.
At the end of the meal, we EACH paid around $65 for our food - so we were far from'cheap.' One of us tipped, & despite that, he loudly said,'I know you tipped, but your friends didn't - that's really cheap. But maybe being cheap is just part of your culture.', & this was an openly racist & disgusting comment.
Tipping is not an obligation - it's a personal choice based on the quality of service. You don't get to treat people terribly & then shame them for not tipping you extra on top of it. & again, we did tip, despite the poor service.
To make matters worse, he followed us outside, continued yelling, & said we should go to McDonald's if we want to'act cheap.' We were respectful & paid full price - no one deserved that kind of treatment.
This experience was degrading, racist, & completely unprofessional. No customer should ever be treated like this, especially not after spending a significant amount of money. Avoid this place - there are far better restaurants where your presence & business will actually be respected.
Le décor n'est pas très bien entretenu & on sent que c'est un peu déchu. Pas tout à fait à la hauteur de Ghibli. La bouffe était bonne, sans plus, mais très dispendieuse.
Cute & small cafe, not many seats available so there could be some wait time depending on the day. Food was ok, great staff very welcoming & cute latte art, that's the gimmick of the place.
This is by far one of the best cafés in Montreal, located in the heart of old Montreal. I've tried the rose latte for the first here & it was absolutely amazing. I came back again & tried the creame brûlée crepes & it blew my mind. Whenever i will visit Montreal, this place is on my list.
TOTORO themed cafe! とてもかわいい!The crepes were really flavourful. We tried the Chicken white wine crepe, & the Banana Brulee. So good!! The drinks were also really good. Nice touch with the totoro latte art!
