Review Summary

Muru Crêpe is a charming, Studio Ghibli-inspired destination in Old Montréal that captivates visitors with its cozy atmosphere, whimsical Totoro-themed decor, and impressive latte art. The menu features a variety of delicious sweet and savory crêpes, with the crème brûlée crêpe frequently highlighted as a standout, must-try experience. Many guests appreciate the high-quality matcha, unique drink options, and the attentive, friendly nature of the staff. While the space is intimate and can become busy, leading to potential wait times, the overall consensus is that the delightful environment and memorable food make it a highly recommended spot for brunch and a unique culinary experience in the city.

We had been here a few years back & remembered it well enough to come back. They have nice crepes , good lattes & a cozy atmosphere. I think the prices have gotten a bit wild , making it a really expensive outing for ok food. The crème brûlée crêpe is interesting but doesn't quite live up to the idea.

It's a decent option if you are close but I wouldn't go out of my way

Requires purchase of food to sit down to enjoy a coffee in a mostly empty shop. Customer service is blunt & rude & we didn't feel welcome. Was planning on buying some souvenirs but didn't want to give any more money to this place because of this policy. My friends & I are visiting from Vancouver & were looking forward to visiting this establishment & left incredibly disappointed. If we were allowed to sit & enjoy our coffees, we probably would've ordered something else too.
Also the hazelnut chunks in the coffee was not good. Just stick to the flavoring syrup.

Edit: you guys are sooo on defense with your reviews & it's unprofessional. Every bad review here is the same about your staffs attitude & this policy. Even just a smile & *kindly* explaining instead of'you need to order food or you have to leave' goes a long way.
There is no signage we saw explaining that you have to order food to sit down. You may have to tell people this multiple times a day but remember for everyone else it could be their FIRST TIME at the establishment & to be spoken to so rudely ended my trip on a sour note. & just because it's common at OTHER establishments does NOT make it okay or a good business practice. You're hurting yourselves as seen in PLENTY of other reviews.

Unbelievably overpriced for the portion sizes. Ordered the avocado toast at nearly $18 for the dish & what arrived was a small, single slice of bread, with stale mushed avocado, an egg, along with 5 pieces of fruit. With an americano, I paid a whopping $30 to still feel hungry after & had to get fries at A&W afterwards. Save your money & look elsewhere.

Muru Crêpe is one of those places where the food & the atmosphere somehow make each other taste better. Tucked into Old Montréal, it feels like you've discovered a little corner of Japan with a Montréal soul 🇯🇵

The crêpe was honestly the star of the visit. Light, delicate, beautifully golden, with just the right texture - expensive, soft enough to melt in your mouth but with that subtle crispness around the edges that makes every bite satisfying. The crème brûlée crêpe in particular is something else: the caramelized top gives that perfect crackle before you get into the warm, creamy, indulgent filling. It's not just a dessert; it's an experience.

I also loved how the Japanese inspiration comes through without taking away from the classic French crêpe tradition. The Totoro/Ghibli atmosphere, creative drinks, beautiful latte art, & attention to detail make the whole place feel genuinely special rather than just themed for the sake of it.

The staff were friendly & welcoming, & the cozy little space has so much character. I completely understand why so many people rave about this place & understandable why there's waiting time at some point.

If you're in Montréal & love crêpes, do yourself a favour & order one here. Some places serve crêpes; Muru makes you remember them 🥞
