Reviews portray Mumbai Masala as a reliable late-hour option offering authentic Indian cuisine at reasonable prices with generous portions, highlighting dishes like dal makhani, paneer, naan, lachha paratha, butter chicken, and biryani. The dining experience is described as quick and consistent, with a warm, welcoming vibe and good value whether dining in or ordering delivery. While the majority praise the flavors and freshness, some note that the butter chicken could be improved and that service can be slower on weekends. The overall impression is of a beloved Montreal staple for comforting, home-style Indian meals, especially for dal makhani, parathas, tandoori items, and a range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
This is our go-to spot for group dinners. We usually order a mix of vegetarian & non-veg items, & everything from the dal makhani to the chicken curry-feels fresh & home style. You never feel heavy after eating here.
We discovered this gem late into our trip & were blown away! The tandoori roti, naan, chicken jalfrezi, chicken dopyaza, chilli chicken & tandoori leg were all bursting with authentic flavour. The service was excellent, portions were generous, & the pricing was incredibly reasonable for the quality.
Highly recommended if you're in Montreal - don't miss out on this place!

Seems perhaps from personal observation 90% of the negative reviews seem to be from delivery drivers complaining because of not having any parking on this busy street, but fresh food takes time to be prepared properly & I think all the customers understand this. I would highly request for them to be waiting outside the establishment not inside nonetheless.
Edit (second time): The lentil soup, navaratan curry, dal makhani, tarka dal, pulao rice are out of this world!!
First time: You can tell the food is made with love & lots of effort but some dishes are very rich (buttery, creamy, oily) so you can only eat a little at a time. All the rices are made well & flavourful. Good naan too.
On of the best, if not THE best Indian restaurant in Montreal. Everything we ordered was great. The vegetable biryanis was quite flavorful & there was more than enough that we were able to take home a considerable amount. The Tandori was also quite good. The restaurant was full when we were there but the food was served promptly & quite warm. Service was excellent. This will be our'Go To' place for Indian food when we're downtown in Montreal.
I would definitely recommend adding this to your itinerary as a place to eat when in Montreal. The staff are very friendly & the food is out of this world! Prices are very reasonable & you definitely get enough to not leave hungry. Great experience!
My friend & I visited Mumbai Masala & were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is warm & welcoming & the server was very attentive & kind. We loved conversing with the person who took our order, who has a charming personality. He recommended the mango lassi. Everyone should try this delicious, non-alcoholic drink. It is a treat! Please add Mumbai Masala to your list, you will not be disappointed!
I recently dined at [Mumbai Masala], & I was thoroughly impressed! From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm & inviting. The staff were incredibly friendly & attentive, making us feel right at home. The menu offered a fantastic variety of dishes, & everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The flavors were perfectly balanced, & you could tell that fresh ingredients were used in every dish. The presentation was also top-notch, adding to the overall experience. I highly recommend [Mumbai Masala] to anyone looking for a great meal in a welcoming environment. I will definitely be coming back soon!

Great place! This isn't my first time here, & as always, the experience is excellent. The restaurant is clean & offers a calm & pleasant atmosphere (with music). The servers are kind, professional, & take the time to properly attend to customers, which is greatly appreciated. As for the food, the dishes are simply delicious! I particularly enjoyed the Rogan Josh, perfectly spiced, as well as the Chicken Dopyaza, tender & flavorful. The naans were excellent, & the rice pairs perfectly with each dish. A place I highly recommend!
The food was delicious. Service was attentive. As vegetarians there were many excellent choices for us. A special shout out to Rob, the restaurant manager, who made us feel very comfortable
Mumbai Masala receives accolades for its Indian fusion cuisine, with guests consistently lauding the flavorsome & inventive dishes. The service garners praise for its attentiveness & personal touches that enhance the dining experience.
While some patrons find the pricing steep & the ambiance darker than preferred, the warm & welcoming atmosphere overall contributes to its charm. The restaurant's location on St Laurent Blvd stands out, offering a spacious setting that diners find superior to a lot of places.
Great small & cozy Indian restaurant in downtown. The service was helpful & attentive. The menu was large & interesting ( options as well as traditional Indian from a variety of different regional options). Everything we ordered was exceptional. We especially enjoyed the tandoori chicken (the best I've had) & an Indian onion rings plate (I don't recall the name). The garlic naan was also very tasty. pH
