I feel a bit torn writing this one. The tasting menu was creative, well presented, & definitely had a chef-driven feel. The service was professional & the ambiance is really cool - warm, stylish, & lively without being overwhelming.
But bottom line, I found it a little overpriced for what it was. After tax & tip it came to about $86 per person, & since everything is shared, it essentially felt like paying a premium price for a series of appetizers. The dishes were good, but the overall value just didn't quite land for me.
Still, a fun night out with great service - I just wish the price matched the portioning & the experience a bit more closely.
After the National Bank Open, my mom & I stopped by Mui Mui for an impromptu dinner. We opted for the tasting menu, which costs $65 & includes three-quarters of the menu in smaller portions. This allows you to sample a variety of dishes. My absolute favourite was the Beef Tataki salad, followed by the squash dumplings. The service was quick & friendly, making it a worthwhile experience!
I was quite excited to visit this restaurant because they had so many unique dishes in their menu that I have never seen in other restaurants. I definitely love the originality of their dishes but I feel like the prices are way too expensive. For around 25$ a plate, there are only a couple of pieces which is pretty disappointing. Taste wise, I feel like the food was pretty good but it was also nothing out of the ordinary that would justify the price in my opinion. The hardest part was probably sitting inside the restaurant without any AC. Even though I enjoyed the ambiance, the heat was ruining the dining experience on this hot summer day. However, the waiters were kind enough to serve us an icy refreshing drink on the house to make up for it which was nice. I feel like the service here was quite amazing. All the waiters were kind, patient & polite & they were all so friendly & served with a smile. They would also refill the water regularly & change our plates which made the dining experience so much more memorable.
I have been wanting to try this place for a while. What a disappointment! The dishes were the epitome of bland, both were served lukewarm & the meat was extremely chewy. My drink was good but a little too sweet.
Upon arrival I was offered sparkling water (not uncommon) by someone who explicitly told me they were not my server & therefore couldn't take my drink order. What a surprise to realize I was actually being upsold an over priced large bottle of sparkling water.
The ambiance was nice & the service was friendly, but the food was awful. Even if the dishes were fairly priced, I wouldn't go back.
This place serves Asian fusion small plates. I was intrigued by the menu but a lot of the dishes fell flat for us. Note that I'm pretty picky with Asian food. For the dishes being pricey for the portion, I expect every dish to be perfectly executed. We started with the beans & the albacore tuna with kimchi. The beans were good but nothing wow as it tasted like gomae (Japanese sesame spinach dish). The kimchi sauce served with the albacore tuna did not work at all together. The sourness coming from the kimchi did not complement the fish. We ended up dipping it in the sesame sauce that was served with the beans. The Vietnamese salad had good flavour but was too salty. Maybe if more vegetables were added it would have been more balanced. The duck confit & beet dumplings were however delicious! Only dish i would recommend! Pork ribs tasted like soy braised ribs & were a bit dry. No smokey flavour, nothing giving it an omph. Something I can make at home. A place I would try once but not come again. Would not recommend.
Decided to try Mui Mui & so happy we did! The menu was delicious & original! New flavours in creative dishes. Perfect portion sizes for two so we could try a bunch. They also have a tasting menu that lets you cover almost the whole menu. The service was excellent as well - our server was attentive & fun, which really made for a great experience. We will definitely be coming back!
good spot to share a bunch of unique dishes. we shared 6 between 4 ppl & it was enough but we could have had space for more. we esp liked the vietnamese beef salad, & i also quite liked the ribs & the calamari. + nice & cozy ambience. friendly & attentive service. it's def on the pricier side tho considering the portions
Food was okay but unbelievably overpriced. Each dish had essentially exactly the same flavour profile, just sweet/salty/soy with no hint of any complexities you would expect from Asian food. The music was much too loud to have a conversation, the servers were pushing us to order more dishes than we needed & I felt a weird vibe from our server when we didn't order his recommended amount, I tipped even though we didn't enjoy the service & the waited was still cold to me. Worst of all everyone at our table got sick after leaving the dinner, my partner was extremely sick immediately after leaving & I was up all night with stomach issues. The food safety is obviously subpar because we have eaten all over the city in the last week & only Mui Mui made us all sick.
Our group of 15 recently dined at a restaurant with a preset menu of three services & 10 plates. While the duck dumplings, ribs & beef salad were delicious, the rest of the dishes were just okay, with too many contrasting flavors that left the meal feeling disjointed. The service was incredibly slow-it took over an hour & a half just to get the first service, despite the restaurant not being busy. They also forgot two drinks until we reminded them twice. The worst part was when the waitress spilled a sticky red shot down my back, simply saying "oops" with no apology or attempt to help. Even at the end, getting our bills took another 20 minutes, & we were the last ones there. Overall, it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a while -what should have been fast & smooth with a preset menu turned into a four-hour ordeal.
Cozy & really original place. They have a variety of different asian dishes & they're all good ! We did not pick the tasting menu because we wanted to pick our own dishes. The Vietnamese beef salad & the salmon tartare were the highlight of the night. Great experience overall, you should give it a try !
