I've now been to Mucca three times, each time with different people, & every single one of us came to the same conclusion: the meat here is the best in Montreal.
Mucca is an Italian restaurant centered around meat, especially the Fiorentina steak, & they execute it exceptionally well. The quality of the meat is outstanding, the cooking is precise, & the food overall is excellent.
What keeps bringing me back, however, is something much rarer: this is an honest kitchen. Real cooking, real value, & no gimmicks.
The service is also exceptional. The owner & staff provide a level of personal, attentive service that is becoming increasingly rare. What I particularly respect is that they operate with a clear set of principles about how a restaurant should function & how food should be served.
For me, this is the real deal - a true restaurant experience that I honestly thought had almost disappeared in Montreal. No gimmicks, no trends - just a serious kitchen that knows exactly what it's doing.
The food is okay. We ordered the tomahawk steak & the outside was burned. When explaining it to the servers, they tried to downplay the fact. Unfortunately, the quality of the food is not as great as the ambience of the restaurant makes it seem.
This was a recommendation by a family member & honestly did not disappoint! Service was great, Karine was super helpful with our choices, super friendly staff as well! The food did not disappoint. Great local joint using great quality & local products. Did not disappoint & will be back for sure!
Brought a friend from NYC here who loved italian & wow did it not disappoint!
She spent a week in Montreal & she said this place was the highlight & the only authentic & high quality italian restaurant she had that was anything close to what she had back home.
I myself love Mucca because of it's artisanal dishes & high quality food. The atmosphere is cozy & welcoming & the staff are exceptional
We had a great dinner at Mucca in Montreal. The atmosphere was warm & welcoming, with a cozy vibe that made us feel right at home. It's located on Rue Saint-Zotique in the charming Little Italy neighborhood, which adds to the overall experience quiet, local, & full of character.
We started with the Fiori di zucca zucchini flowers filled with ricotta. The dish was light, subtly crisp, fresh, & beautifully presented.
For our main course, we ordered the Costata, a 20oz rib steak from Holstein cattle aged for 50 days. It was cooked perfectly medium, just as requested , great flavor, generously portioned.
To finish, we had ice cream served with a crisp waffle tucked in. It was incredibly delicious creamy, rich, & satisfying.
One thing we really appreciated is that Mucca makes many of its recipes fresh in-house including the bread, which was warm & delicious. That extra care in preparation really shows in the quality of service & food. The person who served us was friendly, attentive, & informative. We had different appetites & preferences, & they took the time to check in, understand what we were looking for, & recommend the most fitting dish for the evening. Their suggestion was spot-on, & we fully enjoyed it.
We also had the chance to speak with the chef / the owner , lovely people. They've started Mucca with a mission: to keep the menu simple, authentic, uncompromising in quality.
Everything we tasted was top-notch, & the pricing was very good for the quality offered. We'll definitely be coming back to try more of their signature ice cream & the Tomahawk steak. 👍🎊
Absolutely incredible experience at Mucca!
This Italian steakhouse completely exceeded my expectations. The food was absolutely amazing - every bite was bursting with flavor & clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The steak was perfectly cooked & paired beautifully with traditional Italian sides. The atmosphere was warm & inviting, & the service was top-notch. I had so much fun & left feeling full, happy, & already thinking about my next visit. Highly recommend Mucca if you're looking for a memorable dining experience!
Nestled in little Italy, this restaurant is a true gem worth discovering. They serve exquisite, locally-sourced, fresh, top quality, & well-prepared dishes. Everything is made in-house, even the bread & gelato. The beef is grass-fed & aged in-house. It is tasty, tender & reasonably priced. They serve a generous portion of rib or T-bone with delicious side dishes. The cocktails are great as well & so is their wine list. Definitely worth the trip for a great dining experience.
Went with a large group & had to take the tasting menu.
Pros: food was really good & high quality. Beautiful restaurant.
Cons: literally splitting hairs so that everyone got to try the dishes. A fork's worth of pasta. A half spoon of risotto..couple pieces of meat. Dessert somehow even more so, as they brought out even less at that stage. cutting a slice of chocolate salami in to tiny little pieces was embarrassing. Not everyone got to sample the tiramisu. First experience with a tasting menu where they were literal. You just get to TASTE it. Better off charging more & making sure your clients leave satisfied. Disappointing.
A gem in Little Italy: Bold, seasonal, delicious food on a regularly changing menu, with exceptional service.
The menu is inspired, from the creative small plates (anchovy ricotta! Haskap compote!), the tender housemade pastas, & the incredible desserts (the lemon tiramisu & housemade gelatos are a must). Every time I visit, the menu is different, but the quality & inspiration remains consistent.
Then there's the beef, where this small restaurant in Little Italy is one of the few in Montreal to sell steaks by breed as well as cut (not to mention that they're dry-aged in house). The steaks are cooked to perfection, tender, & deeply flavourful.
Karine is a ray of sunshine, running front of house, drinks, & who I've run into buying crates of sea urchin at the Jean-Talon Market.
They manage to do it all. I cannot recommend Mucca more.

After 3 years of dining here, Mucca remains my go-to when people ask me to recommend:
-'the best steak & a wine list to match'
-'the best pasta'
-'a cute spot for date night'
-'somewhere to take my parents for their birthday where it should feel fancy without being stodgy & make them feel special'
-'dinner with a few coworkers'
