Institution immortelle , les mêmes bons hot dogs & frites que dans le temps lorsqu ils étaient de l autre côté de la rue avec les tables de snookers, les hamburgers sont bons aussi car il y a beaucoup de viande , les meilleurs hot dogs à Montréal , demander le piment de Cayenne souvent caché en arrière du comptoir. Il faut payer comptant très important de le mentionner.

I go to a lot of places, & write a lot of reviews, & I rarely give a bad review.

However, the Montreal Pool Room is going to get a bad review from me today July 18, 2026.

First of all the place is filthy. It really doesn't need to be that dirty. I know there are a lot of reasons for the uncleanliness, but other places in the neighborhood are clean so you can put a little effort into it.

The bathroom was truly revolting. With the men's washroom out of order everyone was going in the women's washroom & it was absolutely disgusting.

I'm uncertain if they were having an off day or if the quality of the food is always this way now, but the hot dogs were mediocre & the poutine was small & dry.

One thing that really bothers me when I eat in a restaurant is uneven portion size. When everyone orders the same thing the portions should be relatively the same size. When I am looking forward to eating a poutine (something I do not do very often) do not give me a super small portion when the person sitting next to me gets a very large portion. It is just not right.

Why was the guy taking the orders always on his phone? There is the time & place for scrolling your social media. Taking orders & serving people is not the time.

This was a Saturday night during the Just for Laughs festival, & the street was packed with people. So a red flag was that this place was almost empty.

Montreal Pool Room you really can do better.

Poutine aux saucisses hot Dogs,sauce brune, bien bonne mais sans plus. Le service est rapide malgré l'achalandage, only cash malheureusement, on y va pour la renommée , l'historique,ouvert depuis 1921. Ce n'est plus comme a l'ancienne adresse avec des grosse frites maison mais reste un incontournable à visiter de la restauration de MTL. 3.6⭐

If the walls could speak!? A Montreal staple. Steamed bun & hotdogs. You don't know what your are missing. We left Montreal 34 yrs ago & always make time for a stop at the Montreal Pool house when we come back & to visit.

Food is still great - fresh hot dogs & ingredients - always love their'steamies'! , the fries were fresh cut, huge & delicious as always. Portions were absolutely generous. HD, fries & drink for 9.99 before tax? How can you go wrong here!!

Atmosphere? It's the Montreal pool room! Walls filled with Montreal nostalgia. It's been the same for 100 years! Russian gentlemen who worked there was super nice & the place was very clean. Support your local Montreal icon!

This old school joint has been a Montreal institution since 1912. After getting no sleep trying to make a 7 AM flight & siteseeing all day I was starving. The first thing I ate in Montreal was their delicious poutine. Maybe it was because I was tired & starving but that was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Perfectly cooked fries over savory brown gravy topped with squeaky cheese, it was heavenly. I wish I could say the same about the hot dogs. Everything else was good except the dog itself. They tasted like Oscar Meyer dogs frankly so I would avoid them. Service was quick & there's ample seating. This is a cash only establishment so hit up the ATM before you come.
