Monk Café Buvette receives praise for a cozy, airy atmosphere, friendly staff, and a versatile menu that suits coffee breaks, brunch, and dinners. Dishes like tartares, burgers, eggs benedict, and salmon, along with homemade jams and a notable espresso martini or standout cocktails, are frequently mentioned as delicious. The drink program is described as strong, with creative cocktails and well balanced coffee drinks, and a good selection of wines and beers, though some guests wish for more beer options. Service is often described as attentive and welcoming, though a few reviews mention slower service during busy times. Overall Monk Café Buvette is seen as a neighborhood treasure delivering quality ingredients, thoughtful presentation, and a lively, friendly vibe, with many planning to return.

Had a fantastic night with a big group out here! Rose is amazing, & so was the rest of the crew! Drinks came quick & were delish, & so were the snacks!
Wow! Amazing food & drinks for dinner at Monk. The foursome deal is amazing. So much delicious food at a reasonable price. Highly recommend. Shout out to JP, Simone, & Rose. Merci!

We ordered takeout from Monk Cafe on Monday afternoon. They have a different menu for the weekdays than for weekends. See attached image of weekday menu. We got the Avocado Toast, Beef Burger & a Salmon tartare to share. The food was really delicious - so good that we finished it & then realized we forgot to take photos! We would definitely return for a meal in the future next time we are in this area.

After experiencing bad service in a near by restaurant… me & my friend went to this place & it was amazing . Friendly & quick service & the food was good .
As someone who lives in the neighborhood & has been a regular customer of this cafe, I've always appreciated its convenience & the generally friendly service. I'm currently on maternity leave & stop by at least once a week, either with a friend or a family member. It's been a small but enjoyable part of my weekly routine, until recently.
The last time I was walking by with my stroller, I stopped to ask the short brown-haired waitress outside if I could quickly order a coffee to go. Before I could even finish my sentence, she cut me off & told me she was too busy, & that I'd have to come inside with the stroller if I wanted anything. Her tone was dismissive, & the interaction felt unnecessarily cold.
What's frustrating is that I've never had an issue like this with any of the other staff members. Everyone else has always been incredibly warm, accommodating, & kind. Unfortunately, this particular waitress consistently lacks the same level of courtesy, & it stands out, especially in a place that's supposed to feel welcoming to locals.
I understand how difficult it can be to find & retain good staff, especially these days. But for a neighborhood cafe that likely depends on repeat customers like myself, I would expect a little more kindness & flexibility, especially toward a regular juggling a baby & a stroller.
This experience has genuinely made me reconsider whether I want to keep supporting this spot. A bit of empathy goes a long way, & it's a shame when that's missing.
I've traveled the globe, tasting countless espresso martinis, but none compare to the one at Monk Cafe! This place offers a great atmosphere, excellent service, & a brunch menu that caters to every taste & appetite. However, the undisputed star is JP's espresso martini. His'secret' recipe & masterful touch create a velvet perfection that is, without a doubt, the best I've ever had. A truly unforgettable experience!
